223 True Love Lane: A Cherry Falls Romance - Page 15

“Interesting,” is his reply as we both see Chad sitting at the bar, with what looks like more than a few drinks in him.

“I really hope he doesn’t create a scene though.” We take our seat in the bar area, several feet away from him.

“Eh, it’s kind of what we wanted. Not creating a scene but letting him know you have a man. Maybe now, he’ll leave you be. If not, we’re bringing in Graham,” Beau replies.

“Yeah, it can’t be helped if he doesn’t get over this ridiculous obsession he seems to have with me. Oh, well, I’m not going to let him interrupt our dinner, especially since there’s chips and salsa, plus margaritas. I mean, they won’t be as good as at the Tipsy Cow, but these will suffice, I’m sure.” I slide into the booth thinking Beau will sit in front of me, yet he doesn’t. He sits beside me. His leg rubs against mine, causing my body to shiver in all the right ways.

“Nah, I hear they’re strong here. It doesn’t bother me if you like them more. I know the real reason you come to the Tipsy Cow.” His eyes are hooded, and when he licks his lower lip, it heats my body up from the inside out.

“And why’s that?” I toss my hair back behind my shoulder, making sure I left it down and in loose waves. Beau cups the nape of my neck and says, “Because I know you’re always there to see me, same reason I always drove past Kissme Sweets, honey. This, between us, was bound to happen. We just have that dipshit at the bar to be somewhat thankful to, it helped push us closer together, sooner.” With that our lips touch. He sucks on my upper lip before he slides his tongue inside my mouth, giving me a kiss that isn’t just any kind. Oh no, this is one where he’s staking his claim.

“Beau,” I moan, rethinking this whole going out to dinner thing.

“I know, Lily. Let’s get some margaritas in you. I haven’t been inside you while you’re tipsy yet. I’m thinking that will be a whole fuck lot of fun.”

“I see what you’re trying to do here. In that case, is it happy hour? Buy one, get one free?” I laugh watching Beau’s face light up with mischief.

“Hold your fire. I’d at least like you to have some kind of food in your belly. As much as I love holding your hair, I’d hate to be doing it all night while you’re praying to the porcelain throne.”

“Fun sucker,” I reply just as the waitress reaches our table, already carrying chips and salsa. My mouth salivates for them. I may be on the curvier side and try to watch what I eat, but when it comes to this form of an appetizer, all bets are off, and I fully embrace my body.

“Can we get a margarita on the rocks, water, and a bottle of beer? Honey, what do you want for food?” Beau asks me after he orders the drink I love.

“Chicken quesadillas, for sure. Then whatever you want.” My greedy hands are already diving into the chips and salsa, not caring about needing a drink or how spicy the salsa can be.

“Steak fajitas, please.”

“Oh my gosh, Beau. You have to try this. It’s like heaven in your mouth,” I moan, holding a chip with salsa already on it for him to bite into.

“Nah, that’d be you in my mouth.” I nearly drop the food on the table at that comment. It seems he’s not the only one affected by our work schedules, and I think I know just how to help.

“About that. I called my doctor to get an appointment for birth control. I can’t get in there or start something until my next period. So, it’s time we get inventive.”

“Honey, you’re it for me. I’m not sure I even like the idea of you getting on something when you and I both know you’ll just be getting off it in due time. It’s your decision though.” He takes the chip from my hand that was just kind of sitting in the air when he dropped his bomb.

“Are you sure? Like one hundred percent sure? Because, I mean, I’m so freaking happy with you, completely and utterly done for, and if anything changes, it would really break my heart.” Sure, I dated that douche nozzle, Chad, but it was partially because I didn’t see Beau giving me a chance in hell, not until he did, at least.

“Honey, you’re mine, I’m yours. This is only going to get better. Every hour, every day, every week, every month, and every single year.” Our food is delivered. I ignore it though. The only thing that matters is Beau and me. Not even Chad can interrupt us, even though I can hear him shouting something in the distance.
