The Rule Breaker

He doesn't ask. Just nods true. "When you asked him to slow down… did he not take that well?"
"I tried to do what he liked for a while."
"And when you didn't?"
"He made it clear he preferred things a different way."
Oliver's eyes narrow. "He pushed you?"
"No. It was more like… maybe we shouldn't talk about this."
"Maybe I should hit him."
"It wasn't like that."
His eyes find mine. This time, there are no nerves in his deep blue eyes. Only fire. "Seriously, Luna, if he pressured you—"
"He didn't."
He arches a brow, not quite buying it. But he still drops it. "Seems like an asshole."
"Yeah."
"Small dick?"
"Oh my god."
"Guess it can't be too small. Or it wouldn't trigger your gag reflex."
Kill me now.
"No. I bet he's one of those guys who thinks because he's big he doesn't have to try."
I clear my throat.
He chuckles, mostly at ease. "Fuck, called it."
"I thought we were—"
"Pretty sure I have eighteen questions left. Or seventeen. Unless you want to stop."
I should say yes. Of course. This is silly. Something to that effect.
But I don't.
Instead, I say. "It's my turn then, right?"
He nods yeah.
"And I can ask you anything?"
"Anything." He holds up his drink. "Lay it on me. I'm ready for whatever you've got."
Chapter Sixteen
Oliver
Luna's blue eyes stay on mine for a minute. Then she turns her attention to her drink. Wraps her pretty red lips around her cup.
Swallows softly.
Fuck, she's gonna kill me. That smart mouth—
She doesn't like it rough. I can do that. I can go as soft as she likes.
And I'm more than happy to come on those lush tits.
Fuck—
I need to think about something else.
Like her dickhead ex.
That stupid asshole Sean is still watching us. Someone needs to punch him and his smug face.
He's looking at me like he's sure she's traded down. Like he's so special because he's a sophomore at USC and I'm a tattoo artist without a college degree.
Like he's a billionaire and I'm the fucking help.
"You really don't like him," she says.
"Is that your question?"
"No. It's just curious."
No. He's an asshole. Completely undeserving of her.
Sure, he's handsome, in good shape, on the path to riches—
But he's a dickhead.
Obviously not a generous fuck.
Obviously the kind of douche who thinks she's slumming it in a bad boy phase.
Like he's so special dating some girl who walked out of an LL Bean catalog.
If anyone is in a phase, it's him.
"You're sure he never pushed you?" I ask.
She nods.
"'Cause I would love the excuse to kick his ass."
"He has friends. And you need your hands to work."
Even so. I hate his smug grin. I hate his douchey face. I hate his stupid voice. I can practically hear him please baby, you know I like it, if you love me you'll—
Whatever.
If he fucks with her, I'm going to hit him. Asshole has it coming. No one fucks with my friends.
"It's my question, isn't it?" she asks.
I nod yeah.
"What do you normally do?"
"Do?"
"With your short-term relationships?"
That's a nice euphemism for her. I guess she's still uncomfortable.
Or distracted.
Is she thinking it too?
Fuck, if I could have my way with her, lay her on that table, roll her pants to her ankles, dive between her legs—
Goddammit. "I usually warm a woman up and get to the point."
"And how do you warm a woman—"
I hold up my right hand. "I need my hands for more than work."
She chuckles. "True."
"That's a second question, by the way."
She ignores me. "You don't go down on women?"
"Sometimes."
"You don't like it?"
"Pretty sure that's a third question." I check Sean's stare one more time.
He's looking at us. Ignoring whatever his girlfriend is saying.
I wrap my arm around Luna's waist. Bring my lips to her ear. "Want to make him jealous?"
"Why do you want to make him jealous?"
"'Cause he's looking at you like you traded down."
"So it's for your sake?"
"Both our sakes."
She makes that hmm noise that means I'm not sure if I buy it.
"Is it a problem?"
She leans into my touch, playing it up. "Go for it."
I make a show of running my hand over her side.
Bad idea. My entire body hums. Fuck, she's so soft and curvy. Her top is smooth and thick, but I can still feel the warmth of her skin.
I need her clothes gone.
I need her body under mine.
I need my name on her lips.
"I like it." I lower my voice to a whisper. "I just… keep it more straightforward. If it's a casual thing." Shit gets personal too fast. I can't handle personal. Better to keep lines clear.
"You do non-casual things?"
"There are degrees of casual."
Her eyes flit to Sean. Then they flutter closed.
"Was he any good at it?"
"He was. But he didn't do it much."
Fuck, I really don't like him.
"He was… well, he wasn't huge. More above average. But he… you called it." Her voice drops to a whisper. "What about you?"
"What about me?"
