She obeyed without question, and they devoured each other as if this was their last day on earth. He’d never imagined a woman so tiny could be so strong, both in body and will. He brought her to the edge of the table and nudged his way between her legs. She threw her head back and cried out with pleasure as he teased her with the smooth, rounded tip of his cock. Reaching down, he parted her legs wide. She was every bit as plump and ready as he’d anticipated, and she responded hungrily to his experienced touch. Delicately parting her lips, he exposed the source of her frustration. It was waiting eagerly for his attention, so he applied a little friction with one slightly roughened finger pad.

Her fingers bit into his arms as she cried out, “I can’t hold on!”

“You must.”

He agitated the straining nub until he judged she could take no more, and then he arranged her to his liking with her legs as wide as she could take them and her hips barely resting on the edge of the table. Pressing her back until she was lying flat, staring up at him, he teased her a few more times before allowing the tip to catch inside her. When she cried out in triumph, he pulled away.

“You—”

“What?” he murmured, showing her no mercy.

“Don’t tease me,” she begged. “Please…”

“All right,” he agreed, still not touching her. “Now?” he suggested.

She came violently on command, without a hand or a cock to help her. Bucking energetically, she screamed out her release as he held her firmly in place. “Now,” he murmured in a soothing tone as he used his hand to extend her pleasure, and of course, she came again. “Keep those legs wide,” he ordered when finally she quieted. “That place is the center of your universe. You will think of nothing else while you’re with me.” Her eyes were still unfocused. She was still drunk on pleasure as she gazed up at him. “Okay?” he pressed.

“Okay,” she agreed on a gasp.

“Good girl.” Gathering her into his arms, he plunged deep.

Chapter Five

Dante was amazing on so many levels. In this, he was something else, and she was… In serious trouble, Rose concluded as she grabbed a breath and reached back to steady herself on the tack room table. Dante’s sexual prowess was everything she’d expected, but it was the closeness between them, even if it was only physical, that made her heart yearn beyond bearing. Her body was composed entirely of sensation. It was just her heart that ached, unfulfilled.

Not that it stopped her. Nothing could stop her now, she thought as Dante took her again. There was only space for this in her world right now. She growled like an animal as she moved with him, grabbing and clawing as she gasped out her pleasure. He toppled her over the edge with consummate skill, but when the pleasure faded and she finally focused on his face, she saw…nothing. The stab of disappointment was fierce. She’d hoped—expected, Rose realized as the burn of naiveté swept over her—that Dante would feel closer to her too, and that it would show on his face, in his eyes, and on his mouth when he smiled reassurance at her in those crucial few seconds after sex.

He wasn’t smiling; he was pausing.

Maybe delivering the most excellent sex was simply a matter of pride for him, she reflected as she rested back, panting. He certainly wasn’t wholly invested. He had straightened up with his eyes closed and his breathing as regular as ever.

What was he thinking? Another job done? Another hunger sated—for now?

Feeling abandoned, vulnerable, and rather silly, and with the problem of her father still drumming away at her brain and no solution found, she couldn’t relax, but when she made as if to move away from him, Dante brought her back.

“What’s wrong?”

She saw the same flash of concern in his eyes, but it was too late to stop tears of disappointment welling in her own. She knew this was just the concerned employer asking. “My father,” she whispered.

“Go on. We have a bargain,” Dante reminded her as he zipped up.

Job done. Head cleared, she presumed, as she straightened her clothes. “Yes.”

“Did you think I’d let you down?”

“Never!” The single word exploded from her mouth.

That was what she wanted to believe, Rose warned herself. She wanted Dante to care deeply enough never to let her down. But if he kept his word and it helped her father, that had to be enough. They glanced out the window at the same time to where the thin gray light of dawn was creeping over the horizon. The staff would be here soon to tend the horses. They were out of time.

“Regrettably—” Dante glanced at the door they hadn’t troubled to shut, let alone lock.

“I know.”

“I should go,” he said.

“So should I.” She had to take a shower and would be late for training if she didn’t leave now.

Dante’s stare rested thoughtfully on her face. “Are you sure you’re all right?”
