“Kat, that was a very impressive sigh; what’s up?”
“Nothing much; I’m just wondering where I can get a pregnancy test on this island.”
“Why don’t you have one of the million doctors they have running around here take a look?”
“Have you met my husband, Cierra? He’d have to vet that poor person for a week before he’d let that happen. Besides, that’s not why I’m sighing. I’m almost certain that I am anyway I don’t need confirmation.”
“Then why the sigh?”
“I just realized that since we got married, I’m either always pregnant or has just given birth.”
“So? I thought you loved having kids.”
“It’s not that; I do love having babies, it’s just… it’s been a while since I’ve had a good spanking.”
There was a lot of hooting and hollering followed by a chorus of agreement from the other women, and that’s when I turned the screen off. “For fuck sake!” The other men in the room started laughing their idiot heads off like they hadn’t heard their women jumping on the bandwagon with my nut.
“You turned it off too soon; listen to this.” Mancini turned the volume up on the audio in the room I’d just been spying on.
“You think they’re gone?” I wasn’t sure whose woman that was, but from the way Connor grunted, I figure it was his.
“I don’t see the light anymore. Catalina’s little toy works like a charm.”
I looked over at Mancini, who mumbled something about being double-crossed, but that will have to wait for another time. The women carried on talking and what they had to say is pretty much the reason we’d been spying on them in the first place. Mancini hadn’t been satisfied with the bullshit lies his wife tried to feed him about the coded message, and it was my idea to listen in to them after they came back to the house.
Who knows what dafuq they get up to on their daily beach walks. I’m sure it’s nothing good if this is what they were discussing in the house.
“So, anyone came up with an idea yet? I get the feeling they need an answer like yesterday. Also, they have to hide almost more than we do because their men are always up under them. They don’t trust them any more than ours apparently do.”
“I can’t believe that they’ve been spying on us. Wait until I drop this kid; I’m going to make Devon pay. He and his brothers are the damn limit. Oh my goodness, they don’t hear us talking about them, do they? That would be too much.”
“I don’t think they’re interested in hearing us talk about their prowess; if I know Logan, his nosy ass just wants to make sure I’m not doing anything more strenuous than breathing. Isn’t that right, baby girl? Daddy is a nagging old woman.”
“Wait, do they know that we’re still listening to them?”
“I doubt it bitch made; your woman just called you a chick for real.” Tyler snorted and clapped Logan on the back.
“Shh, here it is.” Mancini shushed the room.
“We can have someone on the inside take her out.”
“I can’t do that, Vanessa; I’m a FED remember? I was thinking more along the lines of having her sent to solitary.”
“But wasn’t she there already? I think by law, they’re not allowed to hold inmates in solitary beyond a certain number of days anymore.”
“There are always ways around everything, Danielle. The thing is to do it without it coming back to us. I’ll have to make some calls, but it can get very sticky if too many people get involved.”
“I’m with Vanessa. If she’s going to keep being a pain in the ass, we should just get rid of her once and for all. Look at all the shit she did when she was out.”
“Tyler, is that your woman talking?” I’m not even a little bit surprised by this shit. I’ve been monitoring Kat’s ass forever and even more so now that she’s got her own crew because I know her ass can’t help but stick her nose in shit that don’t concern her.
“Yep, that’s my little butterfly; gentle, isn’t she?”
“Let’s see how well this thing Mengele gave them works, Lyon turn the screen back on,” I smirked at the fact that Mancini had just called my kid by her pet name. I wonder what she’d done to get him to see her as more than the innocent little genius he’s been trying to convince me she is for the last little while.
There were a few minutes of silence, and then my darling wife changed the subject smooth as butter. “Don’t worry, Caitie; I’ll tell your daddy to let us go to London soon to see about your dress.”
“Oh, mom, really, you think he’ll let us go with everything that’s going on?”
“We’ll be careful; take every precaution. Besides, we won’t be flying commercial, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
