“Why wouldn’t we be? You think that someone would come after you all the way to the States?”

“It wouldn’t be the first time,” he told her.

“Really? There’s so much about you I don’t know,” she said.

“And yet you got on a plane with me to go to a secluded cabin in the woods,” he teased.

“I suppose I did,” she laughed.

“I’m glad you did,” he told her as the plane docked and people prepared to disembark.

“Have you ever been to New York?” he asked.

“No. I’ve never been anywhere.”

“But you have a passport?”

“Yes,” she said, letting the words trail off.

Ronan knew there was more to that statement, some purpose for the passport that she’d not fulfilled, but she’d have finished the answer if she’d wanted him to know.

“Well, then I suppose we should take a day or two and enjoy the city before hauling you off to the middle of nowhere. I can make the calls I need to get the ball rolling just as well from here as I can from there.”

“Really? That would be great.”

“Let’s get our luggage and go find a hotel then. I know a great one not far off of Broadway. It’s got a bit more culture than some of the hotels in Manhattan, and we can hole up in their lobby for a bite and a beer until check-in time.”

“You don’t want to look around?”

He laughed. “Patience, woman. Let’s get rid of our luggage and stuff first, and then we’ll go explore to your heart’s content.”

“Okay,” she said, blushing a bit.

It was the moments like this that he could see her vulnerability. She was strong on the surface, but underneath it all, she could be childlike. He was smitten with both sides of her. It had taken a lot for him to admit that to himself, but he’d begun to accept it as the truth.

They grabbed the train into Manhattan and then the subway to the Ace Hotel. He was able to book a room for them on his phone while they traveled, but they couldn’t check in for about an hour or so. They found an open table in the busy front lobby and parked their luggage to the side, ordering some lunch and drinks while they waited.

“This lobby is something else,” she observed.

“Yeah. It’s open to the public, so it’s a hive for a variety of people. You’ve got everything from students who come here to use the free Wi-Fi to prominent businessmen in for conferences. I always try to stay here if I come to New York. They usually have live music at night, and it stays open until the wee hours.”

“This is great. You could just hole up in here and never step out into the city.”

“You could, but you’d miss a lot of action out there too. Plus, you’d not get to see all the trash and rats.”

“Trash and rats?”

“Yeah, you’ll see when we go out to look around. It’s not like Ireland. People here just stack their garbage up on the edge of the sidewalk and rats have a field day.”

“That’s disgusting.”

“Welcome to the Big Apple,” he laughed.

A server brought a bottle of wine for them to split and a plate of sandwiches and chips or fries, as they call them in America. Maeve looked around as she ate, marveling at the people gathered as she ate her fill. By the time they’d finished, they’d killed enough time to check in and make their way up to their room.

“This bed is like a cloud,” Maeve exclaimed as she lay across the large king-size bed in their loft room.

“Isn’t it? They have some of the softest beds in New York.”

“I could get used to this.”

“Don’t get too used to it. If you do, you’re going to be too spoiled for life in the country.”

She laughed and got back up, rolling her suitcase over to one side of the room and opening it to get out clean clothes.

“Want to grab a shower together before we go out? I think my sexy smell might not be as sexy after the long trip,” she told him.

“Now, that sounds like a plan,” he replied, already stripping off his clothes and heading to the bathroom to start the shower.

Maeve stepped in behind him, and they lingered beneath the water for a moment, letting it run across them. The heat on his skin felt good after the long trip, and he loved the way Maeve seemed intent on always thoroughly cleaning him when they showered together.

With her hands lathered up with soap, she ran them over his skin, starting with his legs and working her way up past his cock to his stomach and chest before moving back down to his cock again. Her hands wrapped around it, using the suds as lubrication as he stroked him up and down, getting him nice and hard.
