“She’s perfect,” Janet breathed.
Our sweet baby had drifted to sleep at my breast, drunk on colostrum.
“Let us just check her over and get her cleaned up, okay?” Audrey said.
I nodded and handed over my baby, trusting her completely.
I let my head fall against Clint’s shoulder. “We did it.”
“You did it,” he corrected. “You were such a champion. How do you feel?”
“Tired,” I murmured. “But also wide awake.”
“Food might help,” Janet suggested.
I smiled because food was Janet’s solution to everything, and I absolutely adored her for it. It was a wonderful way to show love, as far as I was concerned.
After a lifetime of feeling like it was me against the world, I now felt nothing but loved. I was surrounded by so much tenderness—an entire pack of love. My big strong wolf-man who was utterly devoted to me.
And now Lily, this tiny being who had already captured all of our hearts.
