“I think that’s up to me to decide. Being friends with you doesn’t mean I have to be involved in all aspects of your life, Rogan.”

“What brought this on? Is it the girl?” Aedan asked.

“Tilly is special.” He sent Aedan a warning glare. He knew how quickly Aedan went through women. He’d flirt with his dying breath. But he respected boundaries. And there was a definite boundary around Tilly.

Mine.

Aedan held out his hands, grinning. “I’ll keep my hands to myself.”

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while, about wanting to contact the two of you,” Dylan told them. “I just didn’t know how to do it.”

“How long have the two of you been together?” Aedan asked.

“About a week, but I’ve known her much longer,” Dylan defended. “She waitresses at the club I manage. Why?”

“Something is off about this whole thing,” Rogan said. “Why call a five foot nothing bit of fluff to rescue you from a gang?”

“She’s not a bit of fluff.”

Rogan waved that away. “I didn’t mean any offense.”

“It is odd,” Aedan waded in with his opinion.

“I agree,” Dylan said. “You think her friend is playing her? Why?”

“That I don’t know,” Rogan said. “Hopefully, this meeting will provide the answers we need.”

“How are you going to get them to tell you?” Dylan asked.

“Easy,” Rogan replied. “I’m going to ask.”

Chapter Five

Tilly woke with a whimper. Sweat coated her skin as she sat up, gasping. She glanced around. This wasn’t her bedroom. Where the hell was she?

Rogan’s house.

Miller.

Guilt swirled in her stomach. Here she was sleeping in this heavenly bed in this beautiful room while who knows what was happening to Miller.

She could be hurt, cold, afraid…

Tilly shivered and reaching over, turned on the bedside lamp. She scanned the room for her clothes. Rogan really needed to turn the heat up in his guest rooms, it was freezing in here.

Climbing from the warmth of the blankets, she quickly ran around the room¸ gathering up her clothes and pulling them on. Hopping around on one leg, she was attempting to get her jeans on when the door to the room opened, surprising her.

She let out a screech as she fell back on her ass.

“Ouch! Damn it.”

“Tilly! Are you okay?” Dylan strode over, looking down at her in concern. “Did you hurt yourself?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

She took the hand he held out, letting him pull her to her feet. She rubbed her butt.

“You hurt your bottom? Let me look.”
