Aleki sighed. “What Caleb is trying to say is that you look absolutely, fucking stunning.”
“Yeah, so stunning that everyone will be staring at her,” Caleb muttered. “We should have bought her something to wear that would blend in.”
“Our baby will never blend in,” Aleki replied. “She’d look stunning in a sack.”
“Think we’ve got one around here somewhere,” Wolfe said.
They all stared at him. Was that a joke? Or was he serious?
One never knew with Wolfe.
Aleki walked forward and kissed each cheek. “You’re beautiful. I’m honored to have you on my arm tonight.”
She flushed, smiling happily.
“Jesus, turn off that Samoan charm, man,” Caleb muttered. “Give the rest of us a chance.”
“I don’t even need to turn on the charm with how much of a dick you’re being.”
Caleb shook his head then nudged Aleki aside. He took her hands in his, running his gaze over her. Did he really not like what she was wearing?
Then he leaned in, his lips lightly brushing hers. “I am being a dick.”
She let out a startled giggle and he gave her a wry smile. “You’re absolutely gorgeous. Although I think I prefer you in those piggy pajamas.”
“Me too,” she said quietly.
He stepped aside for Wolfe. That intense gaze didn’t stop moving over her. Then he stared straight into her eyes. Her breath caught. “He just doesn’t want other men staring at what’s ours.”
Caleb winced. “It sounds wo
rse when you say it out loud.”
“But I say let them look, princess. You belong to us.”
“I do,” she whispered.
He gave an arrogant nod.
“I’m not the only one people will be looking at. The three of you look so handsome.” And she didn’t want anyone staring at them. Okay, now she was starting to understand Caleb’s reaction.
Wolfe frowned. “We don’t want anyone but you.” He turned to Caleb and Aleki and pulled some pieces of red material from his pocket that perfectly matched her dress. She was still amazed they’d gotten this dress at such short notice.
She watched as they put the material into the pockets on their chest. Just a piece of it sat out. But it was enough to proclaim ownership.
Hers.
Caleb and Aleki both offered her an arm and she slipped her hands into the crook of their elbows. She glanced back at Wolfe to make sure he wasn’t feeling left out. He gave her a nod.
“I like to protect your backs.”
“I can’t believe the princes are putting this ball on for you guys and at such short notice.” They’d only announced that they were officially becoming a harem five days ago.
Aleki and Caleb laughed.
“What?” she asked, confused as they climbed into a waiting limo. Thank goodness it was a bit cooler here at night or they’d all be roasting in their clothes.
“The ball isn’t for us, baby girl,” Aleki explained with a gentle smile as he sat across from her. Wolfe sat next to her. “It’s for you.”
