My body climbed higher as my orgasm neared. I wanted to tell her I loved her. But, clamped down the idea, chalking it off as a bad decision. My heart banged against my rib cage, fighting with my brain to say the words. “Penny,” I said after breaking the kiss.

“Theo, I need you.” Her eyes told me more and I hoped she felt the same.

My hands flew to her hair, twisting and pulling, as my cock throbbed deep inside her. “Oh fuck, Penny.” My muscles clenched right before my orgasm ripped through me. It wouldn’t stop as I kept pumping inside her tight ass.

Having Penny in my arms felt right. She was mine again, well, sort of. We still had the issue of her being engaged to my half-brother. Furthermore, we were no closer to coming to any conclusion about her father. A time machine would be cool, so I could travel back to the first night I met Penny and do things over. I wouldn’t let her leave me afterward. And, of course, I would have never bought the fucking Goat.

There was nothing I could do, and I just needed to get my head in the game and figure shit out.

After kissing Penny goodbye, we both headed to the Lopa. As I stepped inside, I felt better about her feelings for me. Some of the hur

ting had subsided, and I knew we could get through this.

The morning rush helped distract me from thinking of her engagement but only for a little while. Once my break came, I ducked outside to call Xavier.

“Do you still have that P.I. friend? The one who investigates offshore accounts?” I asked.

“Yeah, Steve Bobson. Need his number?”

“Sure.”

“Does this have to do with Pardo?”

“Doesn’t everything?”

He laughed. “Yeah, I guess so.”

“Thanks, man,” I said after getting the number.

Penny found me around the side of the building just as I hung up the phone.

“Hey, I was wondering where you ran off to.”

“Just got off the phone with Xavier. Got the number to a P.I. Hopefully he can help us out.”

“Nice. Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.”

“Am I a bad daughter? I mean, if we’re right he could go to prison.” She chewed on her thumbnail as her big eyes met mine with a glint of worry engrained in the tawny color.

“Let’s hope so.” Oh shit, maybe I said the wrong thing, judging by the crestfallen expression on her cute face. I wrapped one arm around her, pulling her against my side, kissing the top of her head. I let go and stepped back to meet her eyes, with both hands on her shoulders. “Sorry, listen, your father hasn’t been a very good one. No one should ever force their daughter into something they don’t want to do. I would never do that to Lucy.”

She smiled at me. “You’re a great dad.”

My face heated as I rubbed along the back of my neck. “Thanks.”

“Now get back to work,” she said, slapping me on the ass.

“Oh, that’ll cost you later.” I laughed as I walked away and headed back into the bar. I couldn’t wait to get ahold of Xavier’s friend. It was getting late, so I didn’t want to call after business hours.

Wiping the bar, my phone vibrated in my pocket.

Glancing down to the caller ID, I let out a deep breath. Fuck.

“Hi, Mom. Yeah, been a long time.”
