“Okay,” I agree. “But what happens if I do win and get a contract? It would mean traveling…”

Alec smiles softly. “Then you travel. You see the world. When I can, I’ll join you, and when I can’t, I’ll be right here waiting for you.” He presses his lips to mine, and I sigh into the kiss.

“Nothing is going to keep us apart,” he promises once we separate. “Let’s get going. I had a plan for today and you’re putting us behind schedule.”

“Me?” I laugh. “You’re the one who attacked me!”

“Because you walked out in a towel.”

“I didn’t know what to wear.”

Alec chuckles. “How about something that covers your body, so I can control myself long enough to get us to our destination.”

“Fine, I’ll get dressed.” I saunter around him, purposely brushing against his body.

“I’ll wait for you outside,” he groans.

I bark out a laugh as he darts out of the room, leaving me alone to get dressed.

Alec

“Where are we going?” Lexi asks once we’re in my truck.

I glance over at her and take in how beautiful she looks. Today, in the place of her usual cutoffs and tank, she’s sporting a T-shirt and skinny jeans that of course make her look sexy as hell. Her gray shirt, which has Billabong written in big letters across the front, hangs off her shoulder, revealing her bright pink bra strap, and her ripped jeans show more of her flesh than they actually cover, and what is covered is plastered to her like a second skin. Instead of her signature flip-flops, she’s sporting a pair of white Vans. And to top her look off, because all of that isn’t sexy enough—insert eye-roll—her blond hair is down in messy waves and she’s wearing my Station 115 hat that she stole.

Lexi in my hat is enough to make me want to pull the truck over, drag her into my lap, and fuck her while she’s wearing nothing but my hat.

“Earth to Alec,” she says, knocking me from my fantasies.

“Sorry.” I clear my throat. “I was picturing you riding me in nothing but that hat.”

She snort-laughs then her lips curl into a gorgeous grin. “In nothing but your hat, huh? We can definitely make that fantasy come true,” she says, leaning over like she’s about to make it literally come true right now.

When she reaches for her seat belt, I cover her hand with mine. “Not now.”

Her brows hit her forehead. “Wow, already turning me down for sex. Does this mean the honeymoon period of our relationship is over?” She quirks her head to the side and pouts.

“No,” I tell her, laughing at how adorable she is. “But I want to take you out, and if you’re going to ride me in nothing but my hat, I would rather it be in our bed where I can enjoy it completely.”

“Our bed?”

Huh? Oh… “Yeah, our bed… You can keep pretending you’re sharing a room with your sister, but you’ve yet to actually sleep in there. My bed is now ours.”

Lexi surprisingly doesn’t argue, instead sitting back and bringing her knees to her chest.

“So, where are you taking me?”

“On a date.”

She whips her head around and smiles. “A date?”

“Are you a parrot today?” I joke.

“A parrot?”

I laugh. “You keep repeating everything I say in the form of a question.”

She rolls her eyes. “Whatever. Tell me more about this date.”

“It’s a surprise.” I put my truck in drive and pull out.

“If I guess correctly, will you tell me if I’m right?”

“Sure.” There’s no way she’s guessing.

“Lunch and a movie.”

I give her a quick side-eye before focusing back on the road. “Give me some credit. It’s our first official date. I’m not that cliché.”

“Well, I’ve never been on a date before,” she says, shocking the hell out of me.

“You’ve never been out with a guy?”

“Nope. I’ve only had a few boyfriends. They were either too young to drive, or once we were old enough, we just hung out.” She shrugs. “Most guys don’t want to actually date… They just want to hook up.”

I want to argue, but she isn’t lying. I can’t even remember the last time I took a woman out on a date. We live in a world where people text more than talk, and hook up more than hang out. And when they do hang out, they spend more time taking pictures and going on social media than actually getting to know the person they’re with.

That isn’t happening with Lexi. She’s my forever, which means we have to establish a solid foundation. Something Mason said when I went over to Tristan’s to talk to him about wanting to ask Lexi to marry me.

My thoughts go back to that awkward conversation…

I knock on the Scotts’ door and Tristan answers. “Alec, how are you? Come in.”

He opens the door wider and I step inside. “I’m good. I was wondering if we could talk.”
