It was ridiculously impressive, I thought, as I watched it start to harden again.

“I wish I could stick around a little longer, but I actually have somewhere I have to be first thing in the morning. So I really need to get home.”

He pretended to pout. “You’re going to leave me like this?”

I grinned. “I think you’re pretty well taken care of at the moment. We can pick up where we left off another time.”

I stood but realized the one item of clothing I had worn into his office was in tatters on the floor.

“Don’t worry; I have something you can wear.” He strode over to his desk and to a cabinet behind it, pulling out a pair of yoga pants and a black tank.

“That’ll have to do, I guess.”

Pete dressed me, kissing every inch of my body as he

did so, and then pulled me close to look me straight in the eye.

“I’m serious, that pussy is mine. No one is to touch it but me until I tell you otherwise.”

I grinned. “Whatever you say, Pete.” Grabbing my purse, I headed toward the door, the perfume of human musk wafting from every pore of my body. There would be no disguising what I had done when I got back to the office.

Whatever Lauren and Ivan might have been thinking, they kept it to themselves, but I knew for a fact that Lauren had sussed me out. She didn’t say anything about the dress that I was no longer wearing.

“Okay, Ivan. Let’s hear it. What is going on in the auction room?”

He sighed. “It’s pretty much exactly what you thought. Virgins, all of them very young, but legal as far as I could tell and according to the information that was handed out. I was able to get out with one of the programs with no one noticing.”

He handed over the flier and I stood beside Lauren, looking at the color photos and stats of the girls who had been up for auction tonight.

“Twenty-one, nineteen…eighteen? Are you fucking kidding me?” Lauren looked at me and for the first time it was dawning on me exactly what was happening at Club V. I had wanted to deny it, but there was no way around it now. They were auctioning virgins, very young ones, to men from all over the world who often ended up taking these young women back to wherever they came from.

But the worst part of it all, I realized in a moment of darkness, was that Pete had been lying to me all along.

I couldn’t wait. I went right back out and caught a cab back to the club. The doorman at the side entrance knew me by now and let me in. I found Pete basically where I had left him. He was buttoning the last button on his shirt and getting ready to go.

“You fucking liar.” I cut right to the chase.

“Come again?” He grinned thinking it a funny pun that he had made.

“You are a liar and we’re done here. I’ve got my story. I know what you’re doing, Pete. I know what’s going on. And you don’t even fucking know who I am?”

He paused and looked at me, confused. “Who are you?”

Chapter 9

Pete

“Who am I? For the love of all that’s holy, I wish you had figured it out already, Pete. I really thought you were smarter than that, you dumb ass. But honestly, this is just proving to me that you are as out of touch and self-involved as I had always suspected. You probably can’t see any further than your own dick unless there’s some pussy standing right in front of you.”

“Jesus mother-fucking Christ, Penny! What the hell are you talking about?” She had rushed into my office like a bat out of hell and I had no idea what she was going on about.

“What am I talking about? I’m talking about the story. The entire reason I’ve been here interviewing you, all the while the only thing you cared about was getting me into bed with you.”

Things were nearly spinning and I was struggling to keep up with what she was saying. None of it made sense. Not a single word.

“I’ll tell you who I am. I’m Penny Saxs all right and you might not know that name, but you’ll remember it forever because I am going to be the one to take you and your empire down for what you are doing upstairs.”

“Upstairs?” I asked, bewildered by what she could be talking about. We had spent the entire evening here in my office. She had never gone upstairs unless she had done so after leaving my office. But no, I had seen her walk out to a cab on the security camera. She would never have made it out onto the floor dressed like that and I doubt she would consider trying.
