When she returned, she brought in two cups and I looked at her strangely. “Do I have an appointment this morning?”

“No, just a hangover, and so I thought one cup might not be enough.”

“You are the best assistant I ever had.” I told her.

“I am indeed an amazing assistant.” She agreed. “Are you ready for your messages?”

“Fire away.”

“So, the property you are going to visit at one pm is now with Green’s Realtors.”

“Ooh,

gossip there?”

“Well it was with Simpson’s until this morning, and then all of a sudden there was a change, so someone wasn’t happy.”

“So, who am I meeting now?” I asked.

“A realtor called Tiffany Bailey. She’s lovely. I’ve spoken to her many a time on the phone. You’ll have to tell me what she’s like in real life.”

“I will do.” I smiled.

Jessica ran through the rest of my messages.

“Thanks so much, Jessica. Anything else?” I asked before she left the room.

“I don’t know what happened with Mr. Carter and Mr. Hall first thing, but Mr. Hall left saying that Mr. Carter needed to get his head out of his ass so he could stop talking shit and see what was in front of him.” She bit her lip, obviously unsure if she should have shared.

“Oooh, I like it. Boy fight. Maybe next time they could mud wrestle?” I winked.

Chapter 8

Henry

Lust.

Guilt.

Frustration.

Temptation.

Confusion.

I didn’t get even five minutes of sleep. Exhaustion wanted to take hold of my body, but my whirling brain wouldn’t allow it. Eventually I gave up and worked from my laptop. Figured I might as well achieve something and attempt to distract myself at the same time.

I fucking kissed her.

Totally crossed a line.

And what the hell was Aidan playing at? I told him to leave her alone. So, he takes her out to dinner?

When 5am hit, I slipped out of the house and hit the gym, stretching and pushing my body and finishing with a cold shower. Adrenaline now pumped through my veins and I hoped it would see me through the day. I went back to the apartment and fixed myself a large coffee, then grabbed everything I needed for work.

I was just headed on my way out of the door when I heard a key and Mary pushed the door open. She startled.

“Oh, my, Henry. You made me jump.”
