Slow Grind (It's Raining Men) - Page 16

“Don’t eat mine, Greyson. I bet you’d be the sneaky type,” she jokes, but Serenity isn’t entirely wrong. A plan is already formulating in my head. Hopefully, she’s prepared for what’s bound to happen next.

“Serenity,” I hear Greyson saying my name out loud. We came home, unloaded the truck, and put everything away in the garage. Who knew how meticulous he could be when it came to that area? He barely let me do anything. Instead, Greyson insisted ‘I stand there and look pretty’. I rolled my eyes at him and still helped, even if it was mainly watching. And boy did I enjoy the performance. He was in nothing but a pair of low-slung shorts, so I got to see every ripple of muscle as he lifted and pulled at the camping equipment. It was my own personal porn show, so I sat in a camping chair and let him do his thing.

I walk towards the back of the house after cleaning up from the dinner we cooked together. It was a fast meal, neither of us really wanting to do a whole lot. Camping was fun, but I saw the way Greyson’s back was bothering him after we took care of things. Add that to sleeping on an air mattress, and I’m sure we’re both in for an early night.

“What’s wrong?” I’m walking through the master bedroom, still not finding him.

“In the bathroom, Red.” My heart sinks, thinking something is wrong. Is his back hurting that badly? Will I need to help him in the shower or something?

“You’re scaring me, Grey.” The bottoming out of my stomach is real, that is until I walk in and see what he’s got in his hands.

“Nothing to be scared about, honey. But after this past weekend, I know what I want. You know that what we have is more than good. It’s a one-in-a million thing. Hate like hell how you came to me, the thought of you getting in an accident yet managing to make it like you did. It was more than fate. It’s our destiny. I’m not getting any younger. No time like the present to make this life ours, together.” Greyson is holding my birth control pills in his big, beautiful hands, his ass against the sink, feet crossed, and this is what he wants.

“You do realize I’m not going anywhere, right? If that’s what you’re worried about, I mean.” I walk up to him, my arms looping around his shoulders. He throws the pills in the sink and grips the side of my hips, bringing me in closer.

“I know you’re not. I’m thirty-seven. I know what I want, and that’s you barefoot and pregnant, a couple of kids running around the house, us taking them on trips like we just had. I want that, and fuck, if I didn’t think you’d runaway, my ring would be on your finger tomorrow.” Greyson’s eyes show so much depth right now, and he’s not wrong—we both know what we have is above and beyond what others can only dream of.

“Well, considering you haven’t asked for my hand in marriage, you won’t know the answer, so maybe you shouldn’t think I’ll run away, even with your Tarzan tendencies,” I joke, but his lips are already meeting mine with soft, slow kisses that are so unlike what we usually share.

“You gonna let me throw your birth control away?” Greyson asks, his lips leaving mine.

“Are you going to help me pack up my place in Georgia and move down here?” I counter, waiting to see when it all sinks in that I’m really not leaving him, not now and definitely not ever. He’ll have to deal with my crazy, sweet-eating-for-breakfast, fiery-tempered personality for the rest of our lives.

“We’ll leave right now. Is that answer enough for you?” Over the weekend, I noticed the toothpick he usually has in his mouth wasn’t there like normal. I don’t question it though, even when it’s sexy as hell when it’s there.

“Yes, you can throw them away. Maybe next weekend, we can make a trip up there? I know my family would love to meet the man who has me grounded for once in my life.” There’s a reason I travel so much. Not being able to sit still for a long period of time is one of them, that’s for sure.

“You got it. Now, get your ass in the shower. It’s time we start practicing making a baby,” he grunts.

“Pretty sure we’ve been practicing.” I pull my shirt off my body.

“You know what they say, practice makes perfect.” Greyson and I work on making a family. If I thought the sex was incredible before, it’s extraordinary now.

Two Weeks Later

There’s nothing better than leaving Serenity every morning only to come home to her every night. We went up to Georgia and moved all of her stuff out of her crammed studio apartment, and when I say crammed, I mean packed full of things she’s collected over the years—clothes, shoes, different pieces of furniture. Some of it, though, was from her paid partners and then her fans. I have no idea what she’s going to do with most of it now that it’s in the garage, minus her clothes and things. That’s why she pushed me out of the house today to go to work. Serenity was ready to do damage control on it. She even called Mazie last night and roped her into helping. I have a feeling nothing will get done. They’ll gab more, fill up on junk food, and I’ll be the one helping her next weekend. Not that I mind too much. The way Serenity repays me is more than enough. That fire that seems to always burn for me, no matter if she just had me or if it’s been all day.
