“Yes, baby girl, suck me harder.”

She complied. Something inside him snapped. His eyes turned a shade darker and his expression animalistic. His voice was strained, his words a warning, when he said, “I’m going to fuck your mouth hard. Can you take it?”

The flutter of her eyelashes was all the confirmation he needed before he grabbed her head between his hands and started pumping through her lips. When her gag reflex kicked in, he inched back.

“Bite me,” he said on a growl.

She grazed her teeth over the head and down the length of his shaft. A second later, his hot release pumped into her mouth. He stiffened, shoving himself deeper down her throat while she swallowed everything he had. She sucked until his groan became a grunt. Only when his cock was too sensitive to take more did she let go, planting a wet kiss on his softening shaft.

He fell back against a rock, his shorts around his ankles. “You’ll kill me.”

She leaned against him, kissing his groin. He was like ocean and river and every kind of powerful and soft water in between. She gripped his swimsuit and pulled it back up over his hips, helping him to adjust his cock before giving the elastic a snap.

“Now we’re even,” she said with a smile.

He gripped her shoulders so hard her breath caught. “It doesn’t work like that. I don’t make you come because I expect a favor in return.”

She got to her feet and stared up at him in surprise. “That’s not why I did it. I did it because I wanted to.”

He released her and placed a soft kiss on her mouth. His eyes lingered on her lower lip. “Did I hurt you?”

“It takes a bit more than that.”

His nod was somber. “Maya…”

His words dried up in some strange display of emotion, and then he took her in his arms and stroked her hair for a long time.

The action seemed to be more for his benefit than for hers, because when he finally pushed her away, he appeared to be himself again.

“I shouldn’t have let you suck my cock.”

“Why not?”

“Because, whether you know it or not, now you’re mine. You no longer have a choice.” He pulled her back into his embrace and kissed the top of her head. “I’m a selfish bastard for being happy about that.”

She leaned against him. “You’re not talking any sense.”

He only sighed and kissed her again. They remained in each other’s arms for a while. Warmth, that had nothing to do with the sun, flooded her body. She felt relaxed and … happy.

Tim was the one who finally broke their comfortable silence. “I have work to do today, but I’ll come over tonight, if that’s all right.”

Shame replaced her pleasant afterglow. She’d forgotten her mission in her moment of passion. She had to find out from where they shipped the arms.

“Can I hang around? I won’t be a distraction.”

His look turned apologetic. “As appealing as the idea is, I can’t. What I’m working on is confidential.”

“Do you think I can’t keep a secret?”

He took her face between his hands, resting his thumbs on the corners of her mouth. He kissed the cut on her lip and released her. There were so many clouded emotions crossing his face she didn’t know what to think. Then she understood.

“I get it,” she said. “Felicity’s there.”

“By the time I get home, Felicity will be gone. That’s a promise.”

She shrugged as if she didn’t care, which she shouldn’t.

“You don’t have to hide your feelings from me,” he said. “I told you, I won’t hurt you. I’m the one man you can always be honest with, because I want you for exactly who you are.”

The words were like a stake in her heart. She could never be honest with him. He wanted her for who she made him believe she was—the carefree, scuba diving, gypsy Maya, not Maya the soldier, who had to destroy illegal weapons and land Tim in a pot of Ilano’s boiling wrath. The thought of what she was going to do to him made her sad. Sad was an understatement. Agony was more like it. She hadn’t felt anything like it since Darren.

He cupped her cheek. Misinterpreting her expression, he said, “Don’t think about Felicity any longer. She means nothing.” He kissed her again. “Just trust me.”

Trust? It was the one thing they’d never share.

“Maya … I’m sorry,” he whispered.

“For what?”

“For what’s to come.”

He didn’t give her a chance to question him more. He stepped from behind the rock and signaled with his hand in the air. In no time, Lee appeared in their line of vision.

“No,” she said. “I will not let him walk me home. I sucked your dick, not his. If you don’t want to walk with me, I prefer to go alone.”
