“What the…” Mav looked over his shoulder and let out a groan.

“Hi, handsome.” Carli strutted up to him with her back arched and tits sticking out even farther than normal. “Share your drink with me?”

“The fuck you want, Carli? Thought I told you we were done. There shouldn’t be anything you have to say to me. You know damn well I’m with Stephanie.”

Before he could stop her, she grabbed the glass out of his hand and brought it to her lips. A red crescent lipstick stain remained after she’d taken a sip. Her half-lidded eyes promised sex as did her scrap of a dress. Yes, in the past he would have been all over it, but only because it was easy and he wanted to get off inside a woman rather than his hand. Her whole vibe didn’t hold much appeal to him. “Finish it,” he said when she tried to hand it back to him.

Her sultry smile turned upside-down for a moment before she tried another tactic. “You know,” she said, pouting her ruby lips. “You should be nicer to me. I have a gift for you.”

If that lip thing was supposed to make him think of getting head, it didn’t work. Okay, maybe it did, because he was suddenly remembering Stephanie’s tongue trailing up and down the ink on his cock. Man, that was some good shit. Bore repeating. Soon.

“Don’t want it, Carli. Get lost.” He turned his back on her. “LJ, need another drink. New glass.”

“You got it, Mav.” LJ shot Carli a nasty look then poured Maverick’s drink. Maybe it was time to talk to Copper about having Carli move on. Seemed many of the brothers were tired of her drama.

When he turned around again, Carli was right there, lips pressed against his ear. “Your woman is fucking another man,” she whispered.

His muscles froze, and he squeezed the glass so hard it should have shattered. The logical side of him knew Carli was probably full of it. She was a master shit-stirrer. But the other side of him, the rasher, less controlled side that went apeshit at the idea of another man even thinking about Steph’s pussy, was winning out.

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

Looking so proud of herself, she stepped between his spread legs. “Heard her on the phone with a guy.” She dropped her hands to his knees and started to slide them up his thighs. “She was hiding in the woods for her conversation. Very suspicious,” she said in a sing-song voice.

“Get your fucking hands off me, or I’ll have LJ toss your ass in the parking lot.” Every muscle in his body was rock-hard and raring for a fight. Even if there were another man in Stephanie’s life, he wouldn’t be there for long, because Mav was going to rip his dick off and run over it with his bike.

Carli let him go and stepped back, clearly stunned by the hatred in his voice. Her lower lip trembled, and this time Mav didn’t think it was an act. “I just don’t want to see you get hurt, baby,” she whined. “You know how I feel about you. I could—”

He stopped listening as his gaze locked with Stephanie’s. She stood near the entrance to the bar wearing a denim mini skirt and a stark white tank top that said Handle This in black cursive across the chest. He’d seen Toni wearing something similar not long ago. The back of the shirt had the Hell’s Handlers’ symbol.

Fuck, there was just something about seeing her in his MC’s shit that made him want to fuck her right then and there. But they had something to discuss first. Hands on her hips, her gaze shifted to Carli, and her eyes narrowed. She was pissed. And fuck if it wasn’t hot as hell.

What the hell was wrong with him? There was a fair chance she was fucking another guy, and all he could think about was how much more he was going to want to fuck her after he watched her lay into Carli.

Looking like a pissed-off little fairy, she marched over to where he and Carli were. Something was different about her. She’d curled her hair into waves that framed her pretty face and had gone a little heavier on the makeup. She looked fantastic, like a biker’s ol’ lady.

Like his ol’ lady.

Clearly, he wasn’t drinking enough.

When she stopped within arm’s reach, she only looked better up close. That’s when the anger hit. No other man was allowed near her. Didn’t matter they hadn’t had a conversation about being exclusive. Didn’t matter he didn’t have relationships or wasn’t looking for an ol’ lady. No man was to touch her.

He opened his mouth at the same time she held up her hand. “Look,” she said, shooting daggers at Carli with her eyes before turning her attention to Maverick. Then it was like everyone else in the room disappeared. She gave him one hundred percent of herself at that moment. “I don’t know what she said to you, but I’m pretty sure I know the gist of it. I’m not a child, and I’m not a whore, so I’m coming to you straight and killing this right now.”
