The room all cheered and clinked glasses, and even my nasty disposition of late softened. It was hard not to feel the love and pure joy in the room.
Beau clinked his glass with mine and took a sip of his champagne before asking, “So, are you ready for your Initiation?”
“How would one be ready for that?” I asked as I took a big gulp of my own drink to try to dissolve the lump of nerves in my gut.
“If Montgomery survived it, then we all can.”
I shrugged. “I suppose.” I took a deep breath before adding, “Let the lies begin.”
“Well, if your lies are even half as beautiful as Grace, then you won’t be too miserable,” Beau said with a chuckle.
Lies were lies no matter how you dressed them up. But sure… call them what you want.
Beautiful lies. Ugly lies. It all seemed the same to me. But since I had no choice in the matter but to play along, I would.
