“Yeah.” His voice was quiet, contemplative. “So, y’know. I thought it was important. Then this last one—you’re one of us

now. Although it was always just the four of us until you, you’re just as much a part of this as everyone else.”

Stroking across the smooth silvery metal of the Roman numeral charm, I traced the IV, studded with tiny diamonds. “I love it. You’ve completely blown me away, Caiden Cavendish.”

He fastened the bracelet on my wrist, and I shook it, the metal cool next to my heated skin. “Now you know how much you mean to me. To all of us.” A glint appeared in his eye, and I prepared myself. “If you wanna show your appreciation, you can.”

I glanced down at the growing bulge in his boxers, shaking my head. “You’re seriously fucking insatiable today.” Sliding my hand up his thigh, I gripped his cock through the material, swallowing his groan with a kiss. “I guess I could get on my knees for you one more time tonight, King Caiden.”

“That’s my girl.”

TEN

I didn’t want to brag, but Winter’s birthday had been completely fucking perfect. Call me a selfish asshole, but I’d never really got the whole concept of putting someone else’s happiness before my own. With my girl, though? All I wanted was to see that big smile on her face and know that I’d caused it. I never wanted to be the one to make her cry again. She’d cried enough over the stupid shit I’d done to her.

“Fried, poached, or scrambled?”

I looked up from my phone, meeting Zayde’s eyes. “Any, mate. Whatever you wanna make. I’ll do toast.”

I added four slices of bread to the toaster and crossed to the fridge to grab the juice. “Ready for tonight?”

Zayde cracked eggs into a hot frying pan, watching idly as they hissed and sizzled. “I’m always ready. You?”

“I’ve got a bad feeling about it,” I admitted. “I still don’t know if bringing Granville on board is the right thing to do, but he knows way more than he’s letting on. I’m sure of it.”

“If you need my methods, I’m happy to oblige.”

“You fucked up his cousin, he’d probably pass out if you got near him with your ‘methods.’”

“True. It’ll be awkward for you, too, remember. The last time you saw him, you put your fist through his jaw.”

We smirked at each other. “Fuck, yeah. Punching him was so fucking satisfying.”

“Punching who?” Winter’s voice came from behind me. Shit.

“Uh, no one.” I turned to face her. “Can you grab some plates, please, baby?”

She raised a brow at me, and I ignored Z’s snort of laughter as I crossed over to the cupboard to pull down some glasses.

“I know who you were talking about, by the way,” she said in a low voice as she came to stand beside me.

I did what anyone else would do in my situation. Took her mind off it.

“Do you, now.” I chuckled darkly, pinning her up against the kitchen counter and trailing hot kisses down her neck. Keeping her caged with my arms, I ground myself into her, hearing her breathing hitch.

“What?” The word came out all breathy, and I smiled against her skin.

“Can you get the plates, please.” I raised myself back to my full height, still caging her in, looking down at her as she stared at me, wide-eyed, her pupils blown.

“Uh, sure.” She blinked a few times and I dropped a kiss on her head before moving away.

“Smooth bastard,” Z muttered to me, a half smile on his lips as he added pepper to the eggs.

“Watch and learn, mate. Watch and learn.”

The rest of the morning, I fucked off to the gym with Zayde and Weston, followed by lunch at an out-of-town, ancient pub that rested on the clifftops. Cassius was “helping” Winter and Kinslee decorate the house for the party, and fuck knows what I’d come back to.

“I spoke to Dad. Texted him, I mean.” Weston eyed me over his pint of beer. “I asked him if we could meet up. You, me, and him. Male bonding.”
