Me: Yes.
Granville: I’m in.
Me: There’s no going back.
Granville: I know.
Me: If you’re with us, don’t fuck it up. No second chances.
Granville: *eyeroll emoji*
I growled, again. “Why does he have to be such an irritating fucker?”
Winter laughed, then nuzzled into my neck, scraping her nails lightly across the back of my neck, and my irritation disappeared just like that. Mostly. “Need some stress relief?” she suggested, and kissed my jaw.
“Yes, I fucking do.”
“I’ll sort you out. After the house meeting,” she promised, her tone low and suggestive.
“You’d better. I’m gonna need a lot of stress relief after dealing with Granville.”
She pulled back to look at me and rolled her eyes. Between her and fucking Granville, there was way too much eye rolling directed at me. “Play nice,” she warned. “Then I’ll reward you.”
I lunged forward, pulling her to me and sinking my teeth into her neck. She shrieked, laughing, making me laugh in turn.
“Can you two give it a fucking rest?” Zayde muttered.
“Sorry, mate.”
My phone buzzed again as I released Winter, and I saw yet another message from Granville.
Granville: What’s the plan?
Me: Be at my house at 7pm. We’ll discuss it then.
Granville: I’ll be there
I threw my phone down, sick of seeing his name on my screen. Still, I’d rather put up with it than have him sending messages to my girl. The thought made my arms tighten around her. “Has Granville been sending you messages?”
She stared at me. “Why?”
“I don’t like it.”
“Of course you don’t.” She rolled her eyes again. “So fucking possessive,” she muttered, but then she took in the expression on my face. “I’m not hiding anything from you, Cade.”
“Yeah, I know.” I did know, just still fucking disliked the guy.
Still, he was single, and me? Winter owned my fucking heart, and I was sure I owned hers. So maybe it was time to leave the past in the past.
For now, at least.
“I love you.” She kissed me. “Can we talk about something else?” I nodded, and she raised her head, focusing on Cassius. “Operation Snowflake begins tonight.”
He grinned widely, showing me all his teeth. Better than the mouthful of food he showed me earlier. “Fuck, yes. Operation BCD you mean, though.”
“BCD? What’s that supposed to mean?” Winter stared at him.
“Bring Christine Down.” He winked.
