Part of her wondered if that was always who she was intended to be. Pat believed it was. He said he saw their life a million different ways in his dreams, imagined their future every night before he went to sleep.
She no longer questioned her sanity or worried something might be lacking in her logic. The moment she found stable ground, her life settled and she saw things more clearly.
Pat was a steady presence in her heart, always so loving, supportive, and accepting. She felt honored to have him as her partner, and when she did little things to show him how much he meant to her, he always noticed and appreciated the gesture.
She realized life didn’t have to be intense for it to be happy. Love didn’t have to be volatile to be passionate. And being with someone else should never mean leaving parts of yourself behind.
“Am I too late?”
Julie lifted her stare and smiled at Jo’s frazzled entrance. “Just in time.”
“Oh, my God.” Her sister threw her bags on the empty seat and crossed the room. “It’s a girl?”
Julie nodded. “Fiona.”
“Oh, Jules, she’s perfect.” She turned her glittering eyes up at Pat. “Isn’t she perfect?”
“Perfect.” He nodded. “And, just like it was with her mom—love at first sight.”
