Oliver’s wife is already showing the signs of intoxication. She’s handsy with her husband, and laughs at pretty much everything he says.

After dinner, we move to the patio, and Mia keeps the wine pouring. I know she’s going to have to entertain Enzo while I snoop, and I’m not looking forward to that. Actually, I’m trying not to think about it at all.

Oliver and his wife finally head to bed, telling us to stay longer, and suddenly I feel like a third wheel.

“I’m going to make a call,” I tell Enzo and Mia, moving back into the house.

They barely notice I leave, and I try to remember this is all for a greater good here. Mia isn’t into Enzo, and she’s only playing a part.

I can’t let myself worry about this right now. I have bank transactions I need to find.

I move down the hallway, passing the master suite. Oliver and Lisa are busy with their own marital extracurricular activities and I smile knowing I don’t have to worry about them hearing me.

Her moans are loud enough to wake the neighbors, and I just hope Oliver can last.

I open a door… linen closet.

I open another door… a guest bedroom.

I make my way to the end of the hallway and glance over my shoulder, hoping Mia’s keeping Enzo’s attention long enough for me to uncover what’s behind this door.

The thought of the two of them together makes my skin catch fire and I try to keep it cool. I take a deep breath and open the door.

Bingo.

Oliver’s office.

Chapter 17

Mia

I’m hoping Sebastian is getting something from Oliver’s office, because if I have to sit out here one minute longer, I may combust from tension. My heartbeat races as I think about Sebastian snooping through the house. I hope he doesn’t get caught.

I hope we don’t get caught.

“It’s beautiful here,” I tell Enzo, as we sit out on a porch swing.

He places his arm around my shoulder and I snuggle into him, trying not to think about what I’m doing here.

Because I’d much rather cuddle with Sebastian.

I’m sure Sebastian’s probably not the cuddling type. I’m sure he’s a wham, bam, thank you ma’am, kind of guy. My body heats when I think about how he went down on me in the alley last night.

How his strong hands held me against his face.

How his tongue controlled me.

How his mouth worked me over, again and again.

I want more. I had the appetizer, now I’m craving the main course.

I could become addicted to those fingers roaming over my skin.

I need him. And if earlier is anything to go on, he doesn’t seem like a wham, bam, thank you ma’am type of man.

I’m sure he knows all the tricks in the bedroom to get a woman coming all night long from one single touch.

But I won’t be the one who makes the move. Last night, when we arrived back home, Sebastian didn’t say more than two words to me.

Even today he was quiet, not really expanding on anything that transpired between the two of us.

It makes me mad that he’ll barely even look at me. I mean, at dinner he placed his hand over mine when I agreed to help Lisa plan her event. The simple contact sent goosebumps exploding all over my skin.

Enzo and Oliver may have noticed how awkward it was, but hopefully they thought little of it. Enzo hasn’t mentioned anything about it. He’s been a complete gentleman. But I don’t want a gentleman right now. I want dark and dangerous.

I want Sebastian.

I pretend to be interested as Enzo keeps talking about Italy and how much I would love it here. Before long, Enzo’s close, too close, and I find myself in a situation I’m not feeling comfortable in.

Enzo moves in, and I can tell he wants to kiss me.

Sebastian could very well be getting all the information we need to clear his name, so I decide to just follow through.

No part of me wants to kiss this man, but I can’t let our cover get blown.

Enzo leans in, and just before our lips meet, Sebastian coughs from behind us, breaking the moment. Enzo laughs a little under his breath.

“Had to know your dad would ruin the moment.”

“I’m so sorry,” I tell him, glancing over my shoulder at Sebastian.

“We should head back, Gia. It’s late.” Sebastian crosses his arms over his chest. And I’m hoping he got what we came for.

“Maybe I can walk her back to Tony’s?” Enzo asks Sebastian.

“Why don’t we all walk back together?” I suggest. “Maybe you two can get to know each other better.”

Enzo leans close to my ear. “I’d like to get to know you a little better, if you know what I mean.”

Oliver steps out of nowhere, all disheveled. “No, everyone must stay the night here. I have many things to show you tomorrow.”
