“Go.” Her family all spoke in unison, and she laughed with them, turning on her heel and rushing out of the doors. She didn’t stop as she took the stairs, not caring that she was in a swimsuit. No one stopped her.

As she came out of the ground-floor doors, Liam charged through the main ones. He was dressed, but it was clear he’d dressed in the dark.

She ran toward him as he came toward her. After she threw herself at him, he picked her up, spinning her around as she kissed him. Sinking her fingers into his hair, she moaned his name.

Liam did the same, gripping the back of her head tightly. She didn’t want to let him go.

Coming up for air, she smiled at him.

“I fucking love you,” he said. “So damn much.”

“I love you too, and don’t you ever do anything like that again. You’ve got to promise me.”

“The only thing I’m going to promise you, baby, is that I’m going to do whatever it takes to protect you. I told you, I don’t want to live without you. You own my heart, and you’ve got to keep me safe.”

She put her hand on his chest, right where his heart should lay. “I love you, Liam. I thought … I thought I’d lost you.”

He cupped her face. “You could have never lost me.”

“He lies,” Ben said. “I don’t like being the one who has to try to revive my brother. Let’s all agree to keep the evil spirits that want to kill your wife at bay. I’m going to head up. I need a drink. I’ll let you get back to … that.”

Jenny laughed as she pressed her head against Liam’s.

“I always believed you, but now, seeing it for myself, wow,” he said.

She looked up at him. “You finally saw.”

“And it was wonderful. You really do have a gift, Jenny, and a family who adores you.”

“I’ve got a message from Lewis about what happened.”

“Soon. Right now, I’m taking you upstairs and reminding you multiple times that you’re my wife and that I love you.”

“You can tell me that every single day. I’m going to need to hear it to a lot to remember.”

“I love you. I love you. I love you.”

“Daily.”

“You got it.”

Epilogue

Five years later

Liam watched his little girl, Amanda, as she colored in her coloring book. She sat at the table with three of her friends, and one of the places didn’t have anyone there, but he knew. Jenny had told him that Anna came to visit their little girl, and they sometimes played together.

His father wasn’t very happy.

Amanda, their firstborn, wasn’t a full wolf. She’d been born with the same gift that ran through Jenny’s veins. The same gift he had taught his brothers to treasure.

Danny came toward him, laughing. “You know, I think Amanda does it to piss off her grandparents.”

He laughed.

Ben and Gary came toward him, standing around him. They had all accepted Jenny’s gift, especially after Ben kept retelling the story, and he, himself, had many to tell.

He never asked Jenny to hide her gift or to stop. During their five years together, he’d woken up from being pulled out of bed. Walked into the living room to find furniture floating in the air, and of course, the classic kitchen cupboard tricks. So far, no one had tried to harm his wife.

For work, he was careful. Even his brothers and their men, they had all been given the memo that anyone who killed could take out his wife. In their first year of marriage, after he’d given out the warning, one of his soldiers was discovered abusing a young woman. In response, Liam went feral on his ass, saving the woman and living up to his reputation of being an Alpha Beast.

He watched as Jenny, holding their recent addition to their growing family, bent near Amanda, whispered something, kissed her cheek, and then stood, coming toward him.

Her smile lit his whole world.

This marriage had been one of convenience, but it had soon turned into something more.

The moment she was close, he took their son from her arms and pulled her into his side. His brothers and hers took off, wishing them both congratulations.

“I didn’t scare them off this time, did I?” she asked.

“No, they know there’s no point in talking to me when you’re around.” He kissed her temple. “How are you feeling?”

“Fine. I don’t like the way our dads are fawning all over our son.”

“I don’t like it either. Amanda doesn’t seem to notice. We’ll make sure everything is okay with Lewis.” This was just another reason his dad was so pissed off. Rather than name his son after him and their line, he’d decided to name him after Lewis, Jenny’s deceased brother. Lewis had the gene. It was a sense to all wolves to know if their children would follow them or not.
