“Tell Delilah to call me tonight or I will drive across the country and make her ass talk to me,” he informs.
“She doesn’t have her phone, but I’ll have her call you with mine,” I offer, Guess that makes me the middleman between her dad and her. Fuck.
“That works, keep me updated on the truck.” And he hangs up.
Jesus, that was brutal. I hate lying to him about the room situation but he sees Delilah as a flower and that’s half her problem, she’s spoiled. Besides, how can I protect her if I’m sleeping elsewhere?

Delilah
Lying on the bed, my right leg hanging over my left one, I flip through the channels, not liking anything that’s on TV. My face is radiating colossal pain, but the whiskey and aspirin I just took will kick in soon. The door to the room opens and I stop swinging my leg for a second to see who it is, my body tensing until I realize it’s just Big Chief. He comes in with a sullen look on his face, his large body taking up the room and filling it with that sexy cologne he wears.
I sigh with relief that it’s just him and resume swinging my leg dangling over my knee. I’m definitely jumpy since I was ganged up on and had my ass beat. I’m scared to death they’re looking for me. I hate to say it, but this trip took a hit on my pride and ego.
He plops onto the bed and leans over me, his body heat rests over me like a blanket and my mouth parts with temptation, his face inches from mine as he reaches for the bottle of whiskey.
“We’ll be here a few days,” he grimly informs before chugging back a few swigs from the bottle he just took from me. “What’s this, what are we watching?”
He snatches the remote from my hand. What the hell, he just comes in here, takes my booze and the TV?
“Hey!” I fumble over his large muscular body, trying to get it back but he keeps it out of my reach, passing it back and forth between his hands.
This playfulness reminds me of us painting the baby room back home. I thought it was just us having fun but I can see now there’s much more between us than fun. There’s desire, attraction, a pull that makes my chest tighten every time I’m around him. I’ve been around dozens of men from the club and rallies, but nobody has affected me like this. I don’t know what it is about him but he drives my insides wild.
“I’m not about to watch The Bachelor or whatever chick shit you were thinking.” Using his other hand, he takes another swig of the alcohol. My nostrils flare with irritation that he’s taking over my little pow wow, so I jerk the bottle from his hand and take a sip before leaning back on the plush pillows. I’m going to need booze if I’m going to stand watching whatever he wants.
“I don’t watch that chick shit either, just so you know.” I roughly disperse the information, but I might have watched one or two of The Bachelors with Piper but I’m not saying it.
Big Chief side-eyes me and scoffs. My attention drops to his mouth where I can’t stop staring at his lips. Thick scruff shadows them and tapers up his strong jaw, giving him a Devil-may-care look. His eyes are a soft blue but have a hardness behind them, maybe it’s his hooded brows constantly furrowed that gives him an angry but sexy approach. The room goes silent, Big Chief catching me ogling him. Without a second thought, my hand reaches up and my fingers touch his pouty bottom lip. It’s so soft, the little devil in me says to slip the tip of my finger into his mouth but I restrain myself and run my hand along his cheek, the stubble deliciously scratching my palm. His hand suddenly grabs mine causing me to stop and my eyes meet his. Desire thrums through me like a toxic river, my chest tightening at the forbidden risk I’m enticing. Big Chief is a member of the club, my father’s club to be exact. Dad has preached to me since I was a kid he didn’t want me with bikers, especially one of our own club. So what am I doing and why isn’t Big Chief letting go of my hand?
Thunder booms from outside and I jerk with surprise. Big Chief’s hand now off mine, and my hand in my lap. An awkward tension fills the room and I feel the need to get away from him. Now! Clearing my throat, I slip off the bed and hobble over to the window, my body still sore. Pulling back the blinds, I notice the sky is an ominous gray with big thick clouds blanketing over the area. I wonder if another tornado will come through the area. We don’t get storms like this back home. Lightning slashes across the sky, and rain begins to pour with a vengeance. It’s so beautiful looking, I could stare at it forever. Mother Nature is so angry and futile down south, it makes me never want to leave.
