“Don’t worry,” Greg returned, following him inside. “I agree with you. She has a right to know who she is. It won’t be easy for her.”

“I know.” And Devin knew there was nothing they could do to change that.

I wanted their attention, but this is ridiculous. Kelsey sent Greg a questioning glance as he followed her to the buffet table, again. “What’s with you?”

“Can’t I get a dessert too?”

She snorted. “You can do whatever you want, but you know what I mean. Either you or Devin has been glued to my side since you walked in the door.” She leaned closer, went up on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear as he bent down. “Since I know you don’t intend to give me another lesson in submitting in front of your guests, back off.”

Greg slid his hand under her hair and gripped her neck, his green eyes turning stormy as he sank his teeth into her lower lip, obviously not caring who saw. “We may not be in a scene but behave yourself anyway. I’ll use any excuse to toss you over my knee.”

For once, she wasn’t put out with the girls and slutty bitch’s quick, heated response to his dark tone and titillating threat. All too aware of how time was ticking away, she planned to get on board and stay there with whatever either of them wanted.

“I’ll look forward to it,” she returned, stepping back with a teasing grin. “But right now, I want a piece of that cherry pie.”

“Then you better hurry,” Mary quipped from behind her. “There’s only one piece left.”

“It’s mine.” Kelsey grabbed the plate before asking Mary, “Do you want some help cleaning up tonight?”

“No, thanks, dear. These hunters have almost cleaned out the buffet, so all Les and I have to do is load up the dishwasher. That’s the best part about camp dining, everyone expects disposable dishes that can be tossed instead of washed. Go on, enjoy yourself.”

Kelsey waited until Mary returned to the kitchen and Greg picked up a piece of chocolate cake and then placed his free hand on her lower back as they started back to their table before saying, “I hope this sudden hovering isn’t because of my fall this afternoon. I told you I’m fine.”

“Maybe we just want to make sure you don’t have any more tripping accidents.” He checked the time as they sat down, Devin and the two guests from the hunting party at their table having taken up a game of pool.

“Do you have a hot date later tonight? You keep checking the time.” Devin had done the same thing while they ate.

“You know I don’t. Besides, I’m a one-submissive-at-a-time Dom.”

Greg winked at her and she let her misgivings about their odd behavior slide off in favor of basking in the rush of pleasure his statement produced.

Over the next ninety minutes, the guests trickled back to their cabins to turn in and Kelsey started feeling the effects of the long ride. By the time she waited for the social hall to clear so she could return to the house with Greg and Devin, the soothing relief from her long hot soak in the tub before dinner was gone. As th

ey climbed the steps to the porch, her longing to crawl into bed was interrupted by the silent vibration of her phone.

“Who’s calling this late?” she muttered, pausing on the porch to pull her cell out of her pocket. Seeing Jordan’s number, she frowned, wondering why, given the even later time in Philly, he hadn’t waited until morning.

“Hey, Jordan, what’s up?” A cold chill invaded her body as Greg and Devin each squeezed her shoulder and then stepped inside, leaving the door open as she stood on the porch listening to her foster parents’ explanation for keeping her past a secret from her for twenty-five years.

Chapter 12

Thirty minutes later, sobs tore through Kelsey’s constricted throat as she hung up the phone and dashed inside. She didn’t see Greg and Devin’s concerned faces as she ran by them, slammed her bedroom door behind her and flung herself face down on the bed with uncontrollable tremors of scorching betrayal. A lie. My whole life has been a lie. No matter what Jordan or Theresa had said, they couldn’t convince her she meant more to them than just being part of an unsolved case. As they had filled in the blank spots about whatever family she had come from, Kelsey still couldn’t remember anything about her father or the night he’d been killed.

Inga Olssen. Kelsey Hammond. Who am I? She shuddered with the onslaught of fresh tears. Someone wanted her dead because of an inheritance she didn’t even want. She couldn’t wrap her mind around that revelation. All these years, the couple she thought had taken her in and kept her because they cared had only been doing their jobs. Jordan admitted he and Theresa had suspected the attempted kidnapping from a school outing when she’d been six and the break-in at her second foster home four years later weren’t random incidents. When nothing else happened by the time she’d turned eighteen, they had figured she was safe from her father’s enemies.

Until the assault at the club, Dominion.

If only they would have told her the truth from the beginning, or at least once they deemed she was no longer in danger. Then she wouldn’t have woven fantasies around them caring for her as part of their family, she wouldn’t have grown comfortable thinking of them as the parents she never knew or remembered. Like shattered glass, her emotions had splintered apart and fragmented the moment she heard Jordan’s damning words and opened up a black chasm of nothingness when one thought worked its way to the forefront through her grief. What now?

As Kelsey lay on the bed, her body shaking from the gripping onslaught of her despair, she didn’t hear the door open or the rustle of clothing. The covers were pushed out from under her and she didn’t stop crying or lift her head. But when the bed dipped with Greg and Devin’s weight and their naked, hot-as-a-furnace bodies pressed against her shivering form, their deep tenors finally penetrated the fog of heartache clouding her mind.

“Stop now, little bit, or you’ll break my heart,” Greg whispered in her ear as he untucked her shirt.

Devin’s low, guttural demand came from her other side. “Enough, baby, before you hurt yourself.”

She lifted and rolled at their urging, let them strip her clothes off and then sighed in blissful need as her bare flesh came into contact with all of those rippling muscles covered with smooth skin and hair-roughened limbs. Giving off as much heat as an Arizona desert, the coldness invading her body for the last hour slowly dissipated. A pent-up, convulsive sob broke through as they turned her on her side and swept their abrasive palms down her body, front and back. She moaned as they brought nerve endings to life with light grazes and hard squeezes, sweeping touches everywhere except where she needed them most.

“Please,” she choked out, arching into their hands, shivering as hard, hot and heavy cocks brushed her stomach and pressed between her buttocks.
