Chapter 8
Jasper
My house is only a few minutes from Anchored, but the drive seems to last an eternity. I can’t believe I’m getting a second chance with Odessa. I can’t believe this is finally happening. I’ve been thinking about this woman for months and all of a sudden, I have a second chance to make a first impression.
I’m not going to mess this up.
I can’t.
We get inside and I lock the door. She stands in the center of the living room, looking around nervously.
“Can I get you something to drink?” I ask her.
“Vodka?”
“How about a soda?” I pull her into my arms and kiss her gently. “We’re going to be doing a lot of talking tonight, beautiful girl. I want you to have a clear head.”
“Is this an interrogation?” She asks playfully.
“Do you want it to be? I can be a bad cop if you want me to be.”
“I think I’d prefer for you to be the good cop who punishes the naughty criminal.”
“Are you naughty, Odessa?” I run my hands slowly up and down her bare shoulders. She shivers a little, and this just excites me more. I’m already hard. I’ve been hard all night. Fuck, I’ve been hard since our last night together. Nothing has been able to get her out of my head and knowing that in just a short while, I’m going to have her in my bed?
I feel like my cock is going to fucking explode.
“A little bit,” she admits. “Sometimes.”
“Maybe we should skip the drink,” I tell her.
“I think that we should,” she says.
We move to the couch and I sit down first, pulling her onto my lap. She’s sitting sideways on my lap, which I love. I have one hand on her back and the other is free to touch her body.
“So, do you want to talk about what happened at the club?” I ask her gently.
“You mean when I said I was fine?”
“Yes.”
She takes a deep breath.
“It’s okay, Odessa. We can take all of the time you need.”
“Why are you like this?” She whispers.
I still. “Like what?”
“You’re so patient with me. Most guys aren’t that way.”
“I fucked up with you, Odessa. I’m not going to make that mistake again. Well, I’m sure I’ll make mistakes again, but not that one. I’ll never just disappear again, okay? You have my word. I’m sorry that I hurt you. It tears me up to know just how much damage I did to you. You don’t deserve that.”
“My mom died when I was thirteen.”
“I’m sorry. That must have been really hard.”
“That’s an understatement.”
