“You’re smitten? Such an old-fashioned word. I wouldn’t have expected that coming from a demon.”

“Because we have such a limited vocabulary when it comes to love?”

She shook her head. “I didn’t intend it in a mean way. I think it’s funny.”

“Funny, huh? Then you would think it’s hilarious that Mikkel and Elias were seated on the floor outside. No doubt they heard everything we said. And they know my intentions.”

Miren paused. He was serious. Hell, he sounded like he’d already made up his mind. “Your intentions? What about mine? You made this pronouncement, saying you’d share me, but you never once asked whether it was all right with me.”

“It’s not?”

“You look surprised.”

Renner huffed a breath, his forehead creased as he frowned. “Three demons. No fighting. Three times the pleasure. I thought you’d be happy.”

“I would have liked to be asked first. For you to consult me before you offered me up on a platter to your friends.”

Renner opened his mouth and then quickly clamped it shut. “We’re arguing.”

She crossed her arms over her chest. “We are.” Her shoulders slumped. “You don’t get me at all, do you?”

He closed his eyes and rubbed a hand over his face. When he glanced up at her again, he looked her in the eyes. “I’m willing to learn. If you don’t want to share, I’ll tell them.”

“Well, it’s not that…” She licked her lips and then gave him an even stare. “It’s the fact you bulldozed your way right through this. That you never thought to discuss it with me. That you were assuming I’d be willing to give over power—to three of you.”

Renner sat on the bed, his gaze never leaving hers. “I’m a demon. And male. We’re all hardwired to take charge. But I can learn. I’m not the most intuitive guy, not a psychic bone in my body. So when I overstep, all you have to do is raise your hand, hit me, something to get my attention…and I’ll stop.”

Miren’s anger drained from her. She sat beside him, close enough their bare shoulders touched. “You know our story. Know why we decided to escape together. We thought we’d live our lives without partners, without mates. It was hard, but we learned to enjoy our freedom of choice over how we wanted to live. We learned to make the hard decisions, for ourselves. And now you’re here and everything’s changing again.”

Renner sighed. “And we aren’t making it easy for you to trust us. We’re not the least bit subtle about what we want.”

“So far, Ethan has kept you all in check, provided us protection and freedom to make our own choices for mates. Admittedly, we’ve been in no hurry. If we seem to be dragging our feet, it’s because we are.”

“You’re waiting to see if our promises are true.”

She nodded but hated the way his body stayed tense beside her, because he was afraid to touch her, to be himself. She slid her hand inside his and gave him a squeeze. “I know this is hard for you. But we have to be honest with each other. I don’t expect you to pretend to be anyone else but who you are around me. I don’t want you walking on eggshells or giving me everything you think I want. I won’t blow up at the slightest hint of conflict.” She paused there and gave him a crooked smile. “Okay, I might, but some of that will be me pushing you because I secretly like it when you take charge. But don’t think that means I want you to take charge of my entire life.”

His eyelids dipped and he gave her smug smirk. “You like me taking charge, huh?”

She wrinkled her nose. “I like a lot of the things you showed me.”

He reached and toggled the tip of one very sensitive breast. “There’s more. And if you keep an open mind, I’ll show what three demons can do for one very sexy, sexaholic witch.”

“I’m not a sexaholic.”

“But you loved it, admit it. You liked the fact I was coming out of my skin watching them with you.”

She shook her head, half afraid to admit just how much she’d loved it.

Renner nudged her shoulder. “You’ll come around, I know it. And then you’ll see how much sense it makes.”

“I don’t care if it makes some sort of warped sense to you. I?

??m not taking on three men. I have a business to run. How the heck would I ever have the time and energy to see to all of you?”

Renner laughed, gripped her waist and lifted her onto his lap. “See? You didn’t once mention that you didn’t like the idea. Sounds like you’re afraid you’ll like it too much.”

She wrapped her legs around his waist, liking more the feel of this thick, hard cock pressed lengthwise along her folds. Dear Goddess, he was going to stretch her. “That’s so not what I said.”
