Cruel Infatuation (Underground Kings 3) - Page 75

I flip on the light above me and remain seated. “Hello, Kendall.” I manage to sound thrilled to see her even though there is a huge ball of ‘kill the poisonous bitch’ lodged in my throat. “Long time, no see.”

“Grayson?” she gasps and backs away as I stand, buttoning my suit. She looks fucking terrible. Her hair has lost it’s luster, she is skin and bone, probably from drugs, and the red dress hangs on her body instead of hugging her curves.

Like Finley’s. Mmm, fuck. My woman is divine.

“What is this?” She starts to panic.

Good. I want to see fear. The monster that’s been hiding inside me is being brought to the surface.

“I hear you wanted to try to take my son away.” I take a sip of my drink and pour myself another glass, not offering her one. She doesn’t deserve a drop of my imported whiskey. “And I have a real problem with that, Kendall. A lot of problems, actually. I know you’re trying to put him up for sale like he’s a house or a car. I know you don’t give a fuck about him. I know you don’t care that he’s sick, but guess what? He is with me now, and I care. And you forgot the kind of man I am because the man I was, wasn’t worth remembering. This man? This man you should fear.” I gulp down my drink and roll my shoulders. “Tell me, what the hell could be more important than your son?”

“Money,” she sneers, her lipstick smeared across her teeth. Her mascara is too thick, and her eyeliner is smudged underneath her lower lash line. “I need money.” Then she looks around and sees the wealth. She sways her hips and raises her hand to my chest. “I know we didn’t leave on the best of terms, but if you give me the money I need, I’ll go away. You’ll never have to worry again.”

I lay my hand over hers and laugh. “You’re a goddamn succubus, Kendall. As long as you live, you’ll always try to suck me or someone else dry. Dillon deserves more.”

“I’ll get him,” she says. “He’s in this house. The cancer should almost be taking him now. He’ll barely feel a thing with Atropine, Grayson. You didn’t really want a kid; admit it.”

I wrap my hand around her throat and sling her against the table. Her leg wraps around my hip, and her dress raises up her thigh. She moans and tires to reach for my cock. “You know you miss us,” she says, trying to rock her disgusting cunt against my very uninterested flaccid cock.

“I fucking hate you.” I grab the large needle from my pocket and stab her in the thigh. She screams while I laugh. “Do you feel that?” I lower my face and rub my nose down her cheek. Her impending death has me slightly turned on. “That’s a needle in your bone, bitch. I’m going to suck you dry of it for our son. He needs it.”

“I’m not a match!” she screams, trying to pull away, but Doctor Gladstone is there with another needle, plunging it into her hipbone. She starts to sob, screaming bloody murder at the top of her lungs while we suck the marrow out.

“Liar.”

Chapter Twenty-Four

FINLEY

The day is beautiful. The sun is shining, and the waves are a bright navy blue. The sand is black and more like small pebbles than granules. I tilt my head back and bury my fingers in the sand, letting the sun warm my face. It’s weird to be enjoying the day when tonight, I’m face-to-face with Trevor. The man who ruined my life and Grayson’s.

I used to think that way. I shouldn’t say ruined. My life is great now. I have friends, a beautiful home, and a view people would die for.

“Hey, sexy,” Grayson playfully murmurs in my ear as he drops down beside me. “You look good enough to eat.”

“You already had your fill,” I tease.

“I’ll never get enough of you.” He drops his head and kisses me on the side of the neck.

A squeal of laughter comes from the water, and Grayson and I watch as Owen carries Dillon deep enough where the waves can hit them. Dillon shouldn’t be out here. It’s too dangerous, but he really wanted to see the ocean because he had never seen it before. As hard as it was for Grayson to accept that request, he gave into his son’s dying wish.

We aren’t sure if the transplant will take, and if it doesn’t, Grayson wants to make sure Dillon gets to do the things he wants.

“He looks happy,” I say, watching him smile as Owen spins them in circles.

“Yeah, he does.” Grayson’s voice gets deeper, thicker with emotion ,and I hold out my hand to take his. He doesn’t hesitate. He wraps our hands together and watches as his son has the time of his life.

“How are you feeling after last night?” I ask him. We haven’t talked about what happened with Kendall. While I know he hated her, at one point, there was love there. It has to hurt somehow, right? To kill the woman who used to be your dream, that sounds like more of a nightmare to me.

“Liberated,” he says, following Owen and Dillon with his eyes. “I have no regrets. Life is and will be better without her in it. I don’t have to worry about her trying to take Dillon from me.” He changes the subject when a large wave crashes over Owen. Dillon is fine, but Grayson is getting antsy. “He looks tired, right? I think that’s enough ocean for the day. I’m going to take him inside.” Grayson stands and wipes the sand off his round butt, which I can’t help it, I rear my hand back and give the firm globes a slap.

“If only I had a quarter,” I say, pretending to bounce one off his ass.

He gives me a flirtatious wink and strides toward Owen and Dillon, but first, he gives me a look over his broad shoulder and sways his ass. My laugh is loud and boisterous, maybe a little obnoxious, but it feels so good to laugh.

Until I remember the day isn’t going to be like this forever. Trevor still needs to be dealt with.

Grayson takes Dillon f
