“Wow—that was incredible.” I slumped against the mattress with my exhausted body getting weaker by the second.

“I waited too fucking long to come back.” He dropped down on the bed and wrapped his arms around me.

“Well, you’re not leaving.” I snuggled against his chest.

“No—never.” He shook his head and kissed my cheek.

The afterglow of our lovemaking had put me in a vulnerable spot. My mind raced with everything he said to me earlier in the evening. I started feeling paranoid. I had never been happier than I was in that moment. I wanted to live in it forever. Based on what he had told me, Angelina didn’t think that was possible—not the way I imagined. I needed to know more. She was right to bring us together, but there were things that didn’t make sense. I lay next to Nate for nearly an hour and every second increased my worry.

“Is something bothering you? I know it was your first time, so if I did something that hurt you, please tell me.” He reached over and turned my head towards him.

“No, everything was perfect.” I turned on my side so I could easily face him. “I’m just worried about the things you said earlier.”

“My mind is in the same place.” He nodded.

“I want to meet Angelina.” I took his hand and squeezed it.

“You already did. You met her at your sister’s wedding.” He pulled my hand to his lips.

“No, I want to sit down with her.” I snuggled closer to him. “Can you set something up?”

“Yeah, I’ll set something up for tomorrow. Just be warned—she can be a little intense.” He chuckled slightly.

Nate

My night with Harmony was exhilarating. It was everything I dreamed of and more. I didn’t know if we would end up in bed together, but I definitely wasn’t going to turn down the opportunity. I certainly didn’t expect her to still be a virgin. When we said goodbye, I thought about her beautiful curves for the rest of the night and well into the morning when I showered. The made me hard again and I thought I was going to have to jack off just to get rid of my erection. It instantly evaporated when I heard a knock at my door and looked through the peephole to see Angelina. I had already sent her a text message, so I knew what the visit was about. I slid on my jeans and a t-shirt before pulling the door open.

“So Harmony wants to meet me?” Angelina walked into my room and looked at the bed. “You must have had a good night.”

“Maybe I’m just a violent

sleeper.” I glared at her as I walked over and took a seat on the edge of the bed.

“If you’re violent enough to shift the bed, then maybe you should sleep alone.” She leaned over and pointed at the indention in the carpet.

“Ah, yeah—okay. Yes, our date didn’t end with just a kiss.” I chuckled and shook my head.

“I suspected as much. Quite a wild ride for a virgin.” Angelina took a seat in the chair facing me.

“Wait, how did you know that?” My eyebrows came together in surprise.

“I suspected it. You just confirmed it.” She smirked and shrugged. “So, you had a good night and now she wants to know why in the world I suggested it wouldn’t last forever? Did I get it right?”

“What did you expect? You told me to be honest with her and I was.” I leaned over and picked up the bottle of whiskey. “Want a drink?”

“No, I’m okay.” She shook her head back and forth. “Well, like I told you before, I came here to personally oversee Harmony’s journey. The meeting is inevitable. The sooner I can sit down with her, the better this will be for everyone involved.”

“I don’t like the sound of everyone involved.” I sipped my whiskey and glared at her. “I had a wonderful night with Harmony. It was exactly what I was missing in my life. Why can’t I just say fuck it and take it from here on my own?”

“You could.” She nodded. “You could date her for a while, put a ring on her finger, and settle down into a nice life. You might even get to raise a couple of babies.”

“What’s the fuck is wrong with that?” I tilted my head to the side.

“You would be stifling her spark before the fire ever started.” Angelina exhaled sharply. “You’ve had six years to figure out what you wanted. Do you really think it is fair for Harmony for you to just waltz in here, steal her heart, and put it on a shelf?”

“I don’t want to put it on a shelf. I mean, I know it is too early to think about the rest of our lives, but I feel like we’ve got something real. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt that.” I sighed and shook my head.
