I messaged back, Of course!
I couldn’t let Hayley and Drew down. A few minutes after Damon had sent the message, there was a knock at my room door. It was a bunch of yellow roses. An apology from Damon. I guessed he was trying at least. I put the flowers in some water and snuggled back into my position in front of the TV. I’d deal with Damon tomorrow.
CHAPTER 4
Damon
The night had not gone quite as I had planned. Why do I become a complete buffoon around Carla? When she’d come down to dinner, I had actually been in the lobby trying to find a nice bunch of flowers for her. When I saw her, I was blown away. She looked stunning in her soft flowing dusty pink blouse and white pencil skirt that showed off her long tanned legs. Her long hair flowed around her shoulders and seemed to float behind her as she walked.
I was so stunned that I moved out of view just to watch her glide into the restaurant. Then I got caught up choosing flowers, and I was late for our dinner meeting. Having a waiter dump a tray of wine and dessert on her was not going to help my mission. I sent her some lovely yellow roses as a way to say sorry, and tomorrow I would make it up to her by taking her for a thank-you-for-helping-me lunch at one of the top restaurants in Hawaii.
Thankfully, she was still going to help me tomorrow, so I may get the chance to chat to her about a certain business proposition for when we get back to California.
I really didn’t mean to knock the waiter’s tray of food onto Carla. It took everything I had not to burst out laughing at the absurdity of it. Although, I had to admit that even with red wine and cheesecake all over her hair and face, she looked so damn cute. All I could think of was kissing the sweet mess from her beautiful face. Well, until I reigned myself in and remembered Little Miss Ice Queen didn’t like being touched or adored by anyone she thought was beneath her.
I set my alarm for five in the morning as I was determined to get up with the sparrows and go for a run. Hopefully, I’d meet her on the hotel’s running track and find a way to slowly get back into her good graces. Or rather, better graces. I didn’t think I’d ever be in Carla Reynolds’ good graces. Our families were business rivals, so there has always been a rift between us. But even if our families weren’t rivals, I doubted princess Carla would even give me the time of day if she wasn’t forced to.
I wondered if she knew that we had interconnecting suits? Maybe I should knock and give her back her bridal file she left on the table when she stormed out of the dining room. I couldn’t help it. I had to laugh; it was so comical. The poor waiter had been so alarmed that he’d not known what to do or whether to laugh or cry. I had to make sure the restaurant management knew it was my fault and not the poor waiter’s that their favorite customer got a tray of food dumped on her.
I looked at Carla’s wedding file. Wow, it was thick. I knew it was wrong but I had to have a look. I mean it wasn’t like it’s a journal or diary; it was a wedding file! I opened it and I was not too surprised to see the neatly laid index of the files content. She had everything listed and mapped out to the minutest attention to detail. There was a whole section dedicated to Best Man! I turned to the section and it was completely empty except for the blank index page and my name written on the top with a doodled picture of a devil face next to it.
I took out my mobile phone and snapped a copy of her bridal guest activities pages. Hayley had given me her itinerary outline but it didn’t have all the details on it like contacts, times, booked rooms, and a full list of activities at each place. What a goldmine for me! Miss Prissy Carla was extremely competitive, and right now, she thought she had the upper hand. She also thought that I was going to fail at giving my group as good a time as her wedding party group.
Now that I knew what she was doing, I could up my game and have some fun with Prissy Missy Carla at the same time. But I’d better get her file back to her. I looked at my watch and it was a little late. But I was sure she’d be up. I looked at the connecting door and smiled. Time to show Carla Reynolds who her neighbor for the week was.
