Cole gathered up my limp body and carried us back to the room we’d share for one more night. He tossed me onto our bed, pretty much the only thing left in our room, and came down on top of me. He braced his arms on either side of my head and rubbed his nose alone the side of my face.

“You enjoy yourself, Butterfly?” His voice was gruff, angry almost. I was in such a state of bliss that I didn’t even question it. I stretched my arms out above my head and arched my back, on the verge of falling asleep.

“Mmm, yeah,” I practically moaned. Cole grabbed my chin and jerked my face to look at his. My eyes popped open, wondering what had gotten into him. Was he mad at me for inviting Carter to play with us? Did he regret it?

“Good. Because that’s the first and last time I share you with anyone. Understand?” His eyebrows were scrunched together, his eyes hard, as if he actually thought he’d have to worry about anything like that. I was so fucking his.

“How do you not see it?” I mused out loud.

“See what?” Cole brushed my hair out of my eyes and held his palm on the top of my head.

“That I’m so fucking in love with you. What we did with Carter was fun. It was amazing, and hopefully, we helped improve his confidence to boot. But you’re all I want. All I’ll ever want.”

Cole’s golden eyes softened with relief.

“That’s good, baby. Real good,” he rasped before claiming my mouth with his, like the beast he was.

Two Months Later

Lord help us, we were all back at Hot N’ Bothered. It was Graham’s thirty-sixth birthday, and Dahlia deemed that worthy enough for a night away from the rugrats. Cole, Carter, Quinn, and even some of Graham’s new recruits showed up. I recognized Sin, Carrick, and Stiles, the Irish recruits who Graham housed in Brooklyn in a building opposite to the one Carter had lived in. The boys were drinking like maniacs, so Quinn, Dahl, and I bailed on them and made our way to the dance floor.

“You do realize we have about two point five seconds until one of your cavemen steals you away from this dance floor, right? Better live it up while we can!” This came from Quinn, who raised her drink in the air and started dancing next to me. God, she was a knockout. She had curves for days, but a tiny waist. She wore a tight black mini dress with long sleeves that complimented her gorgeous red hair and ivory skin. Pretty bitch.

“If Carter doesn’t steal you first.” Dahlia giggled. Oh, crap. Dahl was drunk, which meant no one’s secrets were safe. Quinn looked completely confused by her comment, and I wiggled my finger around in a circle next to my head in the universal gesture for bat shit crazy.

Quinn laughed and shrugged her shoulders, but I saw the blush on her cheeks, and it wasn’t makeup. If she had any idea that Carter was a little, well, obsessed with her, she didn’t want to show it, but it was apparent she had something for him.

“’Cause, you know, he’s soooo into you, Quinny. You should hit that. He’s a good man, and I bet he’s packin’.” Dahlia was still in verbal diarrhea mode.

Welp, now Quinn definitely knew about Carter. At that moment, I was particularly thankful that I didn’t tell a soul about that night with him and Cole. That night stayed between us, where it belonged. It was perfect and special and private. I wouldn’t do it again, not in a million years, but I will never forget the orgasms that ripped through me, the shudders of pleasure, and being filled with the cocks of two of the most gorgeous men I’d ever known.

“It’s not like that.” Quinn looked up toward the VIP area, as if she could see him from where we were. As if she knew he’d be watching her.

“You can’t tell me you haven’t noticed the way he watches you.” Dahlia hiccupped, adjusting her boobs in her gold bandage dress. She was still breastfeedi

ng, and one of her boobs was leaking, but I didn’t want to be the party pooper to point it out. Let her enjoy her night out. God knows she didn’t have many.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Quinn seemed defensive and agitated, panicked almost, as she downed the rest of her drink. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but she was clearly uncomfortable and didn’t want to talk about Carter at all.

I was starting to think that Quinn wasn’t who she appeared to be. I’d noticed little things here and there, like how she always seemed to be looking over her shoulder, and how she would play the part of this sexy, funny girl, but when she thought no one was watching, her smile fell and instead, I saw a girl who was hiding. But from what? Or who? I made a mental note to ask her about it later.

Just then, I felt huge, warm hands land on my hips. I smiled and leaned into that solid chest I knew so well and started to grind against his need for me, which was growing by the second.

“You dance like this with every guy who approaches you, Butterfly?” Cole growled into my neck, his hot, minty breath against my skin.

“Fuck no.” I turned to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck. I wanted to climb him like a goddamn tree and set a tree house on his face.

“Good answer,” he replied gruffly. “So…” Cole drawled, “feel like becoming a Savage next month?” He squeezed my ass cheeks and dragged me flush against him. I pulled back to look into his eyes, to gauge whether he was serious or not. He definitely was.

“Next month?!” I shrieked.

“Oh my God! I’m a Savage! Then Jade will be a Savage, too, and then we’ll be like sisters for real. And, oh my God, Quinn! You can marry Carter and be a Savage, too!” This drunk bitch. Quinn blushed again, and now there was no denying something was going on. I was going to put my Sherlock hat on the minute I was done with my wedding arrangements.

Graham walked up next to us and rolled his eyes, exasperated with his silly wife. But he wasn’t fooling anyone. The slight smirk and the way he looked at her like she was the only person who existed gave it away. He was crazy in love with my best friend.

“Time to go, Dolly.” He picked her up and swung her over his shoulder, using one hand to cover her ass. “You’ll have to forgive my wife. She’s not much of a drinker these days,” Graham stated before hauling her ass out of the club as she squealed and smacked his butt. Even when Graham was giving half-assed apologies, he still managed to make it sound like a command.

I noticed Quinn spot someone from across the dance floor, and I followed her gaze only to land on Carter. He was watching her, per usual. And she seemed to be watching him just as intently. Part of me was jumping with joy. All I wanted was for Carter to find happiness. The other part felt like a protective mama bear and wanted to give her a good talking-to before she corrupted our sweet boy and dragged him into whatever she was running from.
