Vicki’s head fell back. “Fuck me,” she said. “You can yell, and scream, and moan. Go crazy.”
That was the signal she’d been waiting for. April began to roll her hips, pushing her bound body to the limits of its motion, penetrating Vicki deeper. Vicki stood in the entrance hall of the King Street Library, Camilla and Vanessa by her side, watching April make a speech from up on the landing of the staircase. It was the grand opening of the library, and April and Lexi had organized a huge gala event to raise even more funds.
April had taken Vicki’s advice and had spent the last few months lobbying the city’s policymakers. The room was packed with politicians and influential people. April had more than proven that she could go toe to toe with them.
“She’s really something, isn’t she?” Camilla said.
Vicki smiled. “She is.”
Vicki had to admit, she’d underestimated April when they met. She’d had an inkling that there was more to April than the feisty temptress she’d taken home from Sapphire that night. What she wasn’t expecting was this radiant firecracker of a woman who fought hard for what she believed in and constantly drove Vicki crazy.
Vicki wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I never thought I’d live to see this day,” Vanessa said. “Victoria Blake, tamed and tied down.”
Vicki rolled her eyes. “Like you can talk. You and Mel moved in together after, what, a few months? She has you thoroughly domesticated.”
“Melanie was very impressed with what you did for the library. Keep this up, and she might actually start to like you.”
Camilla gave them both a stern glare. “Will the two of you stop bickering?” She downed the last of her wine. “I swear, every time we get together, I feel like I’m babysitting.”
“Relax,” Vicki said. “We’re just messing around.”
Vanessa gave Vicki a faint smile. “I am happy for you. Really.”
“Oh? Does this mean you've finally dropped this grudge you've been holding against me?”
The truth was, she deserved Vanessa’s animosity. Back then, Vicki hadn’t known how serious Vanessa was about Mel, and she’d never intended to cause so much trouble. That was no excuse. Screwing up the relationship of one of her oldest friends had been a wake-up call for Vicki, one that had set her life on a less destructive path.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Vanessa said. “Although I’ve been enjoying watching you grovel, it’s clear that you’ve changed your ways. I have to say, I’m impressed with what you’ve done for the library too.”
