“Now that’s my girl.” He kissed her on the forehead.

But Estelle still didn’t like Diamond, nor any of the women patients who came for their appointments wearing next to nothing, so every chance she got, she made sure to “cock-block,” to prevent any hanky-panky from going on in the office.

Estelle heard the doctor yell, “I don’t want to do this anymore, Diamond!”

This caught her attention, brought her out of her thoughts. She now knew who the woman was in the office, and it sounded like they were arguing.

“You don’t want to do this anymore?” Diamond’s voice was dripping with sarcasm. She was pissed. After all the money she’d brought into his office. It was her idea, and it helped him with his financial difficulties, and to think she was considering a committed relationship with him. She was more hurt than pissed, and when she got hurt, she did what she knew how to do best to protect her heart, and that was turn cold.

“Yes, that’s what I said. I don’t appreciate you coming into my office with demands, Diamond. You said we would only do this a few times, and that would be it.” He tried to reason with her.

“No, you listen to me, muthafucka! I say when it’s over! I ain’t finished yet! You made you a good piece of change off my idea, and now you wanna bounce? Well, to hell with that!”

Diamond stood over the doctor as he sat in his chair behind his desk. She had brought Dante and Trey with her, sensing the doctor was gonna be a problem. Dr. Ricci had been hinting to Diamond that he wanted out of the plan she had concocted to defraud the insurance industry and make a little money, so when she received the call from him asking her to meet with him after hours, she knew there was a problem.

Meanwhile, Estelle had her ear pressed to the door and was practically lying on it, trying to listen.

“Like I said, Diamond, I’m out. I’m gonna ask you and your young friends to leave my office one last time.”

“Or what, Michael?”

“Or I will have no other choice but to call the police.”

“Oh, so you gonna call the police? What are you going to tell them when they get here, Michael? Did you forget that I work for you?”

“Listen, Diamond, I’m a grown man. I’m not one of your boy toys that you can order around. This has gotten way out of hand, and your greed is making you careless. I’m a professional physician. I’m not going to risk losing my license for you.” Dr Ricci was calm as he spoke.

“Careless? I am not careless. What are you afraid of, Michael? Huh?”

“Like I said, I don’t want to participate anymore.”

“Well, let me tell you something, sweetheart,” Diamond said, placing her hand on her hip. “It’s too late. You are already in too deep.”

Dr. Ricci sat there and thought for a moment. “Well, I’ll have no other choice than to report you.”

“Report me?” Diamond yelled. “Don’t forget I got a lot of dirt on you too, my dear.”

“I knew this muthafucka was gonna be a problem. Let me do him?” Trey asked.

“Hold up, Trey! He ain’t gonna say nothing. Rig

ht, Michael?” she asked him.

Dr. Ricci simply stared into Diamond’s eyes.

“He gonna snitch. I see it in his eyes,” Trey said. “Word, I don’t trust nobody white.”

“Yo, ma, let’s just go,” Dante said, speaking for the first time.

“You’re right, Trey. We can’t have that,” Diamond said, ignoring Dante’s request.

Diamond’s voice changed in tone, and at that moment Dr. Ricci began to fear for his life. He looked at the three people hovering over him, and especially took note of the demonic look in Trey’s eyes.

Estelle also began to fear for the doctor’s safety. The first thing that came to her mind was to call the police. As she turned on her heels and began to walk to the phone, her handbag hit the cabinet that sat on the wall right outside the doctor’s office. She froze where she stood and looked up at the ceiling. Oh, Lord! she silently prayed. Please, Lord, don’t let them have heard that.

When she didn’t hear any movement from the office, she began to walk again, this time securing her handbag over her shoulder. Suddenly the door to the doctor’s office swung open, and Estelle stopped walking, too afraid to even turn around.

“Who is it?” Diamond yelled to Trey.
