I looked left, I looked right, and felt panic hit me. What do I order here? I wasn't that hungry, hunger being suppressed by the sheer thrill of being near Leo Rose of all people. "Um, uh, a salad?"

He rolled his eyes. "Get us some pizza, Sheryl. Mix it up. For you and the crew too, we'll take our pick." He clicked it off.

"What about the salad?"

"The salad is a choice for someone who is afraid of how they're appearing. You, my love, are perfect already."

"What if I didn't like pizza?"

"Everyone likes pizza, let's not be silly here." He leaned back on the couch, crossing his legs, his eyes never leaving me. "Tell me Haley, what's your aspiration?"

"Uh, I stock shelves at..."

"That's a job. Not an aspiration. What do you want out of life?"

I froze, again second guessing myself. What do I say here? Do I tell the truth? I didn't want to blow it and make Leo Rose think I was a loser.

"Come on. I'm not going to judge you."

I took in a deep breath. What did I have to lose? I never expected to get this far with Leo Rose to begin with. "I've always wanted what you've had, Mr. Rose."

"Just call me Leo. What do I have?"

"I wanted that rock and roll lifestyle, to be adored by millions, to be a sex symbol, to be loaded and never have to worry about money again."

"That all is very nice, yes. What do you play? Sing? Dance?"

"An instrument? No, I'm terrible at all of them. I have two left feet, and I can't sing worth a damn. I love music, but it's always been a pipe dream for me."

"Why don't you sing for me anyway?"

"I told you I'm terrible."

"Being good at something is a matter of practice. Passion though, that can't be trained. Let me hear the passion in your voice."

"I don't know..."

"Come on. Humor me. I sing for you all the time."

I cleared my throat. I was being such a naive fool in front of him, he already had to think that I was the dorkiest person in the world. I figured I couldn't alienate him much more. I dug into my mind for the lyrics that meant the most to me. "There's no one in this world who does the things you do to me," I began to sing.

Leo Rose smiled as I began. It was one of his songs, after all.

"Only you, the one in billions, the one I want forever, the only one for me, and it's only you."

"There's passion there. You can be trained for sure." He nodded as I finished the verse. "There might be stardom in your future and you just don't know it."

"Thank you," I said, blushing for what felt like the millionth time.

"Do you believe in the lyrics you just sang, though?"

"Um, I always thought so yes. The idea that there's someone out there perfect for you is just so romantic."

"When I wrote that song, I believed it too."

"Past tense? You don't believe it anymore?"

"I also wrote a song about love at first sight."
