Fat Cat Liar - Page 32

“I approve of them all,” he says, not looking at the items. His eyes are pinned on me, the crystal blue gleaming. “I’m going to like having you dress me.”

Tension crawls up my spine, and without looking at Lawson, I know he’s glaring again. I roll my eyes, take the clothing, and hand them to Haley.

“We’ll need to make some alterations to the length, but otherwise, I say this is a yes. Now, go try on the grey and black ones, and I’ll show you what I have for those as well. Then we’ll move to the tuxedo.”

“And shoes.”

“And shoes.” I nod. “We’ll fit you for those, too.”

“I already know I’m a size thirteen. Have been most of my life. Everything about me is extra large,” he calls over his shoulder.

As soon as Greyson closes the dressing room, I spin to face Lawson. He stares over my shoulder, his jaw ticking.

“Lawson!” I whisper-hiss. “Stop it.”

“No.”

“He’s my client.”

“Do you always have your face eye level with your clients’ dicks?”

Haley snorts—loudly.

“You’re not helping.” I snap my head in her direction and glower at her.

“Cut me some slack. It’s my first hot-guy showdown. Like I said, you’re my idol.”

I close my eyes and suck in a breath, trying to calm my racing nerves. This is a worthless effort because, when I open my eyes, Lawson is so close I can feel the warmth of his body. His face is no longer stone hard.

“There is no showdown. At least, not where you’re concerned.” He frames my face gently and skims his lips over mine.

All irritation vanishes as my body betrays me, and I lean into his kiss. “You did this on purpose. You didn’t just happen to be in the area, did you?” I say against his mouth.

He leans back, his smug grin confirming my suspicions.

“I fell on my ass in front of a client,” I remind him.

“Well, maybe you should remain standing next time.”

“I was fitting him.”

“If that’s the way you fit men for their suits, I want your next appointment.”

A giggle bubbles up and I shake my head. “You’re crazy.”

“No, I’m a hot-blooded man that realized his girlfriend was meeting with one of New York’s most eligible bachelors today. A few weeks ago, I was also a bachelor, until my eyes landed on you. I’m actually doing Greyson a favor, letting him know you’re not available.”

At the term ‘girlfriend’, a spark runs through my body. Putting a label on our relationship hasn’t seemed important, until now that the words are out of his mouth.

“Are you going to make this a habit with all my male clients?”

“If I have to. Definitely if it’s Greyson Lynch.”

“You know you can’t stay, right? This is a private appointment.”

“I think I made my point.”

The dressing room door opens behind us, and I step out of Lawson’s hold, running my hands over my dress, and smiling brightly at Greyson when he appears.
