"So where are we going?" Jaime glanced over at Alex as he settled down in the seat beside her. The private jet was simple but elegant.

"To a private island I rented for the weekend. We'll be there in a couple of hours." He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back of her fingers. "I just wanted to treat you and to show you that I love you. I know all of this stuff with the papers has been getting to you, but hear me when I say this... I'm no prince and you're not Cinderella. Unless, of course, you want to be?"

She laughed and pulled her hand from him. "Of course not."

"Right. I didn't think so." He smiled and ordered them both a drink. "You're the one who saved me from living a lonely life of being a bachelor. I swear nothing feels as good as it does when I’m with you."

"It's love." She snuggled up beside him and rubbed his chest softly. "Speaking of... we need to plan the wedding. I know you want to get married sooner rather than later, but I need a date. I don't want you springing things on me last-minute. It's too stressful to plan a wedding with no time to do it."

"I understand. I'll give you plenty of time or I'll do it myself. How hard can it be?" He smiled and leaned down to press his lips to hers.

"Oh brother. You have no clue, do you?" She moved away from him and worked to take off her shoes.

"I guess not. You know I want something extremely small and intimate." He rubbed her back as she bent over.

"I'm good with that. I need to have my mom and dad there, but other than that... Oh." She sat up and looked over at him.

"Oh?" He lifted his eyebrow.

"Yeah, oh. I meant to tell you that I asked Kristen to be my maid of honor. I hope that's okay." She pulled her legs up in the seat and snuggled back down beside him.

"Really? I’m cool with that. She okay with my brother being my best man?" He kissed the top of her hair before running his fingers through it.

"Yeah. They worked everything out, from what I can tell." She let out a long yawn and closed her eyes. "It's been weird without you at the office."

"I bet. Did you find a secretary for me?" He brushed his lips by her forehead and breathed in deeply.

She moved back and laughed. "Yes, and I need a raise for going through that trauma."

"Trauma?" He grinned as his eyebrows rose. "That bad?"

"Yes, that bad. Where do these people get their nerve? Half of them were

flashing too much leg or boob, and all of them but one was upset that I was giving the interview instead of you."

He rolled his eyes. "Tell me you hired that one then."

"I did. You'll love him." She gave him a cheeky grin.

"Him?"

"Yep, and he's cute."

"That's it..." he reached out and grabbed her, tickling her as he pulled her toward him, "he's fired!"

Chapter 14

Jamie was so tired by the time they got to the hotel that night that she laid down on the bed, and didn't remember falling asleep. The soft brushing of fingers along her arm woke her. She opened her eyes and realized it was morning. She let out a soft yawn as she rubbed her eyes and smiled.

Alex was in front of her, lying on his side, watching her. "Morning, beautiful."

"When did I fall asleep last night?" She glanced around and stretched. "I'm sorry. I should’ve had a cup of coffee or a Coke or something."

"It's all good." He reached out and brushed her hair off her exposed shoulder. "I stripped you down, had my way with you, and put you back to bed."

"What?" She moved toward him and rolled over to lie on top of him, clasping his wrists and lifting them above his head. "I should pay you back for that." She was careful with his right arm, not wanting to aggravate the healing wound.

"Yes, you should, but we have a spa appointment in about fifteen minutes. I’m good with sex, or we can get up and I'll make you a cup of coffee before we go. We can have a nice breakfast out on the beach after we get back from our couple’s massage." He lifted his face toward hers, and she didn't hesitate to lean down and press her lips to his.
