The Blood is Love (Dark Eyes 2) - Page 65

Before I know what’s happening, I’m walking over to Mathias and dropping to my knees, very aware of his hard-on beside my head. Solon’s eyes widen as he stares down at me and I know he thinks I’m about to give the guy a blow job, and while I’m glad to see Solon looking fearful and possessive, that’s not the case at all.

I just want to feed from him the same time that Solon is.

I want to share this with him.

I run my hand up along Mathias’s soft inner thigh, my fingers skimming along where his femoral artery is, my fingertips tingling when they feel the pump of his blood underneath, making sure I don’t hit the artery or he’d probably bleed out and die.

When I’ve found a safe spot, my teeth sink into his skin and I suck back, drawing out the blood. I gulp it down in small amounts, trying not to take too much, and I look up at Solon through my lashes, watching him feed as he watches me feed.

God, there’s nothing hotter than this. I wonder too if Solon is hard and I’m picturing his cock large and rigid, pressed up against Mathias’s ass, the way he’d press up against me. I’m watching as Solon’s chest skims over Mathias’s back, how tightly Solon holds him now, a hand slipping down over Mathias’s waist, Solon’s skin many shades lighter than his is.

All the while Solon keeps his eyes locked on mine while he drinks and drinks.

But then, the more he takes, the rougher he becomes.

His grip tightens around Mathias’s waist, his teeth sink in a little deeper, and I watch as Solon’s eyes go black as he starts to succumb to the bloodlust.

He’s a powerful vampire with teeth that will always be sharper than mine, and a powerful, lockjaw kind of bite. I know this from personal experience. I can survive it when Solon’s feeding gets out of control, but Mathias is human and he cannot.

I pull back, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand. “Solon,” I manage to say. “Stop. You’re going to kill him.”

Solon’s nostrils flare with anger and it only makes him grab Mathias harder, drink deeper, enough that Mathias’s skin starts to pale before my eyes, his face looking ragged, gaunt, and he’s starting to gasp for breath. I’m watching Solon drain the life out of him, and the last thing I want is for another human to die because of us. I’m supposed to be aligned with the light, not the dark.

“Stop!” I say louder, getting to my feet. “Solon, he’s dying!”

I reach out and grab his arm, but he’s wound so tight that I can’t pull him off.

There’s only one thing I can do.

I bring my wrist to my mouth and I bite it, the pain sharp, my teeth sharper. I bite and tear and create a jagged hole in my wrist, blood pouring freely.

Then I hold it out to Solon.

“Me,” I plead. “Feed from me. That’s how it’s supposed to be.”

Fear returns to his eyes, fear of losing control. He’d rather kill this innocent volunteer than risk the beast being let loose.

But I would rather he take the risk.

“Do it!” I yell at him, my voice cracking, bringing my wrist right up against his mouth and letting the blood drip on his lips.

That’s all it takes.

Suddenly, Solon unhooks his fangs from Mathias’s neck, who wobbles unsteadily on his feet before slumping to the ground, and then Solon is grabbing my arm tight, bringing my wrist to his mouth. He bites me with a ravenous frenzy, his eyes alternating between wild instinct and guilt.

“It’s okay,” I tell him softly, trying to soothe him in much the same way that I tried to soothe the beast. “Feed from me. I need you to. My blood belongs to you. I belong to you.”

And that’s an understatement. The feeling of him taking from me, consuming me, taking my lifeforce in order to sustain his is a feeling like no other. I’ve said it so many times, but the blood is love. This is love. Blood that gives, blood that saves.

Eventually, Solon’s grip on my arm loosens, his drinking slows, and a clarity comes back into his eyes, though they still burn with raw intensity.

“I’ve missed this,” I whisper to him, reaching out and brushing his hair off his forehead, marveling at how close we are, how much I’ve needed him like this. “I—”

In the blink of an eye, Solon pulls my wrist away from his mouth, then grabs my face, holding me in his big, strong hands, and kisses me with blood-stained lips.

I whimper into his mouth, my body responding to his like a match being struck and I’m burning all over, my skin begging to feel his skin, my blood desperate to join his. I run my hands over his chest, over his arms, relishing the feel of his cool skin, his taut muscles, and then he’s groaning so deeply into my mouth that it makes my toes curl in my shoes.
