Fighting For You (The Connor Family 5) - Page 25

“Would be a first time for me.”

She stared at me. “Wait... you’ve never watched Game of Thrones? At all?”

“Nope.”

“Then you, my friend, are in for a treat.” She rubbed her palms together in excitement. “I’m going to make some popcorn. Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” She took off her shoes on the way to the kitchen. I flopped onto the couch, lying down. When she returned with the popcorn, she glared at me. I was lying on one side, occupying the entire couch.

“Where am I supposed to sit?”

I patted the space in front of me, then opened up my arm.

“Couch is wide enough for both of us to lie down,” I said.

She smirked but didn’t protest. After turning on the TV, she turned off the light. I’d assumed she would change into something more comfortable, like pajamas or sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt.

But karma hit me in full force two minutes later when Brooke came to lie down in front of me still wearing that beige dress.

With the TV as the only source of light, the room was mostly dark, and the beige color of the dress blended with her skin, giving me the impression that Brooke was naked in my arms. Placing the bowl with popcorn in front of her, she snuggled her body against me. She shifted a couple of times, and her skirt inadvertently rode up her legs. Before she rearranged it, my fingers brushed her thighs. Touching her bare skin sent a jolt straight to my cock, especially when the skin on her legs turned to goose bumps.

On pure instinct, I hooked an arm around her waist, bringing her even closer until her back was against me. This right here? It felt so right that I couldn’t get enough of it.

Chapter Eight

Brooke

“They didn’t just do that,” Jace exclaimed. I snickered. Watching the series with someone who hadn’t seen it was more of a treat than I’d imagined.

“We’re almost out of popcorn. Want me to make more?”

I made to move, but Jace pulled me back, holding me even closer than before. My heart slammed against my ribcage as I felt those washboard abs press against my back.

“Don’t go anywhere.”

“Okay.”

I snuggled right back in my cocoon. I couldn’t explain it, but being wrapped up in Jace like this made me feel safe. I was also hot and bothered. My entire body was buzzing, filled with so much energy, it was slowly becoming unbearable. Each time Jace took more popcorn, I sucked in my breath, as if that would help my chest shrink enough that his arm wouldn’t touch my breasts while he reached inside the bowl.

“Ned Stark is my favorite character,” Jace proclaimed. I bit the inside of my cheek. This poor man. He’d have his heart broken by the end of the season. “I can’t believe I haven’t seen it. This show is fantastic.”

He sounded mildly surprised, so I pinched his arm, then half turned toward him.

“I wouldn’t make you watch something bad, hot stuff.”

“Hey, don’t pinch me.”

I did it again.

“Stop that.”

Right... he wasn’t really expecting me to stop, was he? Because I absolutely didn’t plan to. As I lunged to pinch him again, Jace caught my hand. Then he pushed himself slightly up on his elbow, with the result that his face was hovering a little over mine.

“What are you going to do now, hmm?” he challenged. He was still holding one of my hands captive, and the other was wedged between us, so I couldn’t use it.

“Surrender?” I whispered against his lips.

“Right answer. You know, using the nickname I gave you on me constitutes cheating.”

“Hmm... I’ll think of something better.”
