Fighting For You (The Connor Family 5) - Page 49

“Hmmm... I sense someone’s looking forward to the rest of the night.”

“That’s an understatement.”

I pulled her into the shower, where we made out more than cleaned up, with the result that I was rock hard by the time I carried her to bed.

I placed her on the mattress, skimming my lips from her navel up to her sternum before moving on to a nipple, pulling it into my mouth. Brooke gave a low gasp, and by the way she clenched her thighs together, I was sure she was ready for me again. Moving between her thighs, I rubbed the length of my erection against her entrance. She was so slick for me, it was maddening.

“Jace, this is....” Her words faded in a gasp.

“I want you to still feel me when I’m not inside you. I want you to miss me.”

“Just so I’m prepared, are we going to get any sleep tonight?”

I smiled against her skin, down her chest.

“Probably not. But you can rest tomorrow. You already agreed to spend tomorrow with me.” I stopped my descent, looking up at her. My muscles locked down while I waited for her reaction. Would she backtrack, because things had changed between us since we’d made plans a few hours ago? I was prepared to push back if she did. There was no way I wasn’t spending tomorrow with her.

“I know. I can’t wait.”

I returned to kissing her, even though I had an inkling she’d only agreed so fast because we were in New York.

***

Brooke was sleeping with her head on my chest when I woke up next morning. For the past fourteen years, the first thing I’d done upon waking up was to head out for a run. Right now though, I wouldn’t move from this bed even for a million bucks. I was just going to wait for Brooke to wake up... even though, if she needed much longer, I might run out of patience and take matters into my own hands. I had plans for us today, and sleep was getting in the way.

Brooke began to stir about half an hour later, and I saw my chance.

“You up already?” she mumbled, lifting her head to look at me.

“Yep.”

“And cheerful. My head feels like it’s weighing a ton. Why are you so fresh?”

“I usually get up at this time.”

“Oh, that’s right. For your run.”

“First morning in fourteen years when I didn’t go for a run.”

She squinted. “Is this supposed to make me feel special?”

“Yes.”

Brooke didn’t look too impressed. I changed tactics. I twirled us in the bed, climbing on top of her, and running the tip of my nose up and down the side of her neck. She squirmed under me, letting out a shriek of laughter. The side of her neck was a ticklish area. Good to know. I didn’t want to be cruel this early in the morning, so I moved lower, kissing between her breasts.

“What are you doing?” she inquired.

“Showing you how special you are. Wouldn’t want you to operate under a misconception.”

I was about to resume all that kissing when I noticed her grin. “What

?”

“Nothing. Carry on. I need lots and lots of proof before I believe you.”

“I’m more than happy to provide it.” She laughed, but the sound quickly turned into a moan when I lowered a hand between her thighs, lazily drawing a circle around her clit.

“That’s a shortcut,” she pointed out playfully.
