Your Christmas Love (The Bennett Family 10) - Page 120

“Yes, she does.”

“Always happy to make myself useful.”

“I’m warning you, I’ll be very demanding.”

He scooted closer on the floor until our thighs were touching.

“I can’t wait.”

A smile was playing on his lips.

“Okay... I have to admit, I thought you’d be more... how do I say this... stressed out isn’t the right word.”

“Neurotic?” he suggested.

“Well, yes.”

He leaned in, whispering conspiratorially, “Being around you has this effect on me. I’m calmer, I see things clearer.”

“So basically, you just need me with you all the time so you’re not grouchy?”

“Exactly.”

I kissed his cheek, smiling from ear to ear. “I can totally do that.”

“Damn, and I thought I’d have to work for it.”

“If you insist, I can play hard to get.”

“Come here.” He pulled me in his lap. My thighs were pressing against his. I wiggled my lower body for good measure.

“How do you always manage to get me where you want?”

“This isn’t where I want you, sweetheart.” His voice was suddenly lower.

“And where do you want me?”

“In bed. Panting, calling my name. Writhing when I have my mouth on you.”

And just like that, my entire body felt like a livewire. But I was determined to hold my ground. A certain someone deserved to be teased.

“Well, doesn’t sound that promising.”

“Really?” He drew his hands up my arms, lingering with his fingers on my shoulders. “I have other ideas too.”

“Don’t you dare tickle me again.”

I scurried away, just out of his reach. He waggled his eyebrows. I shook my head, eying him carefully. I was still reluctant to lower my guard when my phone beeped with an incoming message.

“I’ll behave. I promise.”

“I don’t believe your promises right now, mister.”

He held up his hands in defense. I reached for my phone quickly.

“Victoria just texted me. She’s asking if we want to go to their house for dinner. Apparently half the family will be there. Want to go?”
