Not taking a second longer to think on it, I press my lips to hers and close my eyes. I hear her inhale sharply, her body tensing. Prying her lips open with mine, I barely touch her tongue with my own and seal her mouth closed with a chaste kiss. Opening my eyes, hers are still closed, her lips parted as if she’s in a daze. I back away and rub my thumb over my lip, looking at the ground.

She clears her throat and crosses her arms again, shielding herself. Jesus, the things I want to do to this girl. I want to bring her body alive with my fingertips, to watch her writhe beneath me as I bring her to climax over and over again. She has no idea what she’s missing out on and I want to be the man that gives her that journey, the man she never forgets.

I don’t know, a part of me is telling me not to though. She’s sweet and naïve, and I live in the MC world. She deserves some man that has an eight to five job and doesn’t offer the risk of going to prison every other day. Besides, I don’t want anything serious and she doesn’t look like the kind of girl that would be cool with just hooking up. Turning around, I break the magnetic pull between us, an awkward tension falling in its place.

“Come on, let’s get you home.” I throw my leg over my bike and start it. I don’t have to look to notice she’s taken aback by my statement, I don’t know what to say to smooth this over either. It’s just best I get her home and get to my side of the street.

Climbing on behind me, her helmet knocks against my head.

“Oops.” Her tone of voice flat conveying she meant to do it, I can feel the anger radiating off of her.

“Seriously?” I bark, my head stinging where the helmet made contact.

Situating herself on the back of my bike she looks away as if the sight of me might make her sick, her smooth cheekbones and plump lips are all I can see of her face.

Shaking my head, I focus on getting us out of here and back on the road.

Crazy bitches.

Parking in my driveway, Maybelline hands me my helmet and starts walking across the street without a word.

“Maybelline, wait…” I start after her but she’s already on her porch and slamming the door. Shit. Running my hand through my hair, I suddenly feel bad. I knew better, what the fuck was I thinking. She’s not a girl you kiss under the moon and then act like nothing happened. She’s a woman with a heart full of gold, one I’m surprised someone hasn’t tried slithering their way in.

Or maybe they have and that’s why she’s so pissed. If that’s the case, I wonder if any of the brothers hooked up with her. No, that can’t be it. I mean, why would she let me kiss her if that were it? Then it occurs to me, maybe she thought I was different?

Maybelline

Leaning against the register, I pull apart a banana muffin and put it in my mouth as I watch a couple across the café. He’s skinny and full of tattoos, she looks more of a bohemian girl with her long brown skirt and loose tank top. My eyes fall to the crystal necklace she has, it’s purple. They seem so different yet their smiles tell me they’re happy and content with the possibility of having nothing in common. Sighing, I decide to take a big bite out of the muffin this time instead of pieces as if I’m baby feeding myself. Last night reeling through my mind for the fiftieth time today. I can’t believe I kissed him back, what was I thinking. He wanted one thing and I knew that. Tilting my head to the side, it occurs to me that maybe I only want one thing too. I mean, I’m too busy for a relationship but being touched and kissed like that every once in a while doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

“So, how does it taste?” I jump, nearly dropping my food at the sound of Dime’s voice right behind me. Turning around, I dust my hands of the crumbs.

“Better than mine, that’s for sure.”

She smiles.

“You’re just too impatient, you’re an awesome cook if you would just slow down.” She widens her eyes as she emphasizes the word slow. She’s starting to sound like Crow. She takes the rest of my muffin and eats it, her eyes flicking to the couple I was just looking at.

“Did they get a muffin?”

“Mmhmm. Two coffees too.”

She nods, liking that we’re starting to get customers. The front door opens, North and Jinx from the club walk in. I tense and Dime instantly goes into ho mode, leaning over the counter and batting her eyelashes.
