Feels Like Home (Southern Bride 5)
“Well, I did, and I need you to go get it.”
Another thought hit me. Had Annie known that? Was that why she hadn’t bought Anson a change of clothes? That was an insane thought. How in the world would she ever know that?
“I don’t know if I should be impressed you remember that detail or a little worried I still have that habit.”
“Just go get it. I know you’ll at least have a T-shirt in there I can sleep in.”
With a sigh, Anson turned and headed back to get dressed. The moment the door shut, I raced to the bathroom with his robe still in my hands.
I stripped out of my dress and quickly jumped into the shower. I had never cleaned up so fast in my life. I skipped washing my hair in favor of getting out of the shower before Anson got back.
By the time I dried off and slipped the robe on, Anson was walking back in.
I opened the bathroom door and walked out wrapped in the robe. Anson had placed his bag on the bed and opened it. He turned to say something and stopped.
“I’m borrowing it until you hop in the shower. Then I’ll put something of yours on.”
His eyes slowly raked down my body. I had to look to make sure I had the robe closed up good and tight. It was huge on me, and I was positive I looked like a giant marshmallow.
“What?” I asked.
Anson shook his head and walked past me. He shut the bathroom door, and I heard the shower turn on.
I moved over to his bag and pulled out the change of clothes he had in there.
Jeans. A black T-shirt. A button-down shirt. Extra boxers, two pairs of socks. He even had shorts in the back and a pair of sneakers.
“Perfect!” I said as I undid the robe and slipped the black T-shirt over my head. I walked into the living room and slipped the white lace panties on. I picked up the bra and stared at it. My gaze went to the closed bathroom door, and a wild idea hit me. It was stupid and foolish, and I should have known better. But for some reason, I wasn’t thinking clearly.
I tossed the bra back down and made my way back into the bedroom. I picked up the robe and stopped outside the bathroom door. The shower was still going. I couldn’t help but let my imagination run wild with thoughts of Anson standing with the water running down his perfect body. Or him taking himself in his hand and…
“Good God, Bristol. Just tell him the robe is right here and walk away,” I whispered.
Instead of doing the sensible thing, I drew in a deep breath, lifted my shaking hand and knocked on the bathroom door.
Anson didn’t reply. Every bone in my body told me to turn and walk away. Too bad my stupid head wasn’t on the same page. I placed my hand on the doorknob and turned it.
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” I softly said as I stepped into the steam-filled bathroom.
Anson
WHEN I HEARD the knock on the door, I froze. What in the world could she possibly want?
I was about to call out when I saw the door open. My breath hitched in my throat, and I stood there like a statue.
Bristol walked into the bathroom, and my knees nearly buckled.
She was wearing only my T-shirt. It fell to the middle of her thighs and she looked sexy as hell in it. Her hair was pulled up into one of those sloppy little buns that made her even hotter than she already was.
“Here’s your robe—I’ll set it on the counter.”
I watched as she walked in a bit more and set the robe down. She turned away from me and stood there.
“Is there something else you wanted?” I asked, hearing how my voice strained ever so slightly. I couldn’t let her leave just yet.
“Wanted?” she asked. I swore she was about to turn around and look at me.
I didn’t answer. She slowly shook her head and dashed out the door, shutting it with a soft click.
My lungs screamed for me to take in a breath of air, so I did. A long, deep one.
“Holy shit,” I whispered as thoughts of Bristol walking into the shower with me raced through my mind.
My hand went around my cock, and I pulled slightly to ease the instant throb. Then I glanced back to the door. There was no fucking way I was going to jack off in the shower with the woman I loved on the other side of the door.
I quickly washed off, cleaned my hair, and got out of the shower. After I dried off and rubbed my hair to get out the excess water, I wrapped the robe around me and opened the door. I glanced through the bedroom and saw Bristol sitting curled up on the sofa. As I moved closer to her, I saw that she had a blanket over her and she held a small book in her hand.
