Forbidden Desire

I’d been more than happy to let Kevin stew in his own shit since I’d already pretty much destroyed his academic career. I figured with his dad’s money, he’d have been able to land on his feet in the future, granted he learned the error of his ways and cleaned shit up. I guess I was wrong on that score. It doesn’t pay to give certain people a way out.

As for Sherry, it’s like Paul said, I knew she was going to go to Kevin, she’s that fucking predictable, I just wasn’t sure which way he’d choose to go. I can’t go to the cops with what I have since it’s illegal as fuck in this state to record someone without their knowledge, but I don’t need them. I just need him to lose his backing, to be destitute as fuck without a leg to stand on.

I thought long and hard about what to do with the recording of Kevin and Sherry plotting to go after Lora and I. It would be easy enough to just send it to his dad and sit back and watch the aftermath of what he does to his idiot son, but I had a better idea. Why not kill two birds with one stone without even getting my hands dirty?

I tuned back in to Sherry’s parents, who were still discussing their daughter and where they might’ve gone wrong. I could’ve told them that her kind of evil didn’t need any help, but then they’d know I was listening in on their shit. I could only shake my head when they came up with the great idea of getting her out of the country until things cooled down. Something I halfway expected but was hoping wouldn’t come to pass.

“That’s just perfect. Don’t miss anything they say I want to know every detail of what they have planned.”

“Yeah, but what’re you gonna do?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, what if they decide to send her out of the country what do you plan to do?”

I couldn’t tell him what I had planned. Lucky for me, I’m always one step ahead. I knew from his past responses to her bullshit that Roger wasn’t going to let his daughter pay for her crimes. I knew too that since I’d backed them into a corner that he’d come up with a solution pretty much like the one he’d chosen. The shit works out perfectly in my favor because I’d already seen it coming.

“Don’t worry about it. The less you know, the better it will be for you in the long run.” Since Steve was already eavesdropping, again he missed this part of our conversation, which was fine since he and I aren’t as close as Paul and I are. The less people who know about my illegal shit, the better.

“Just what the hell are you up to, Tyler? I still say you should let the law handle this. We have more than enough from her past and what she tried to do here to put her away.”

“Don’t you see how easy it has been for her to slip through the cracks in the past? What’re they going to do, give her a slap on the wrist and send her home in a few months so she can start her shit all over again?”

“Bruh, I know why you’re doing this, but she didn’t even get the chance to touch your girl.

“And that makes it okay? What if it was you? What if…?” I stopped short of mentioning his lost love. It took him a second, but from the way his face reddened, I saw that he got the picture.

“I get it, fine, bury this bitch, but you gotta let me help.”

“I’ll think about it; I gotta get back, see what Lora’s up to.” It’s the first time I’d left her side for this long since we became an item. I’d made her promise not to leave the house without me, but who knows what goes through women’s heads when they’re left on their own. Hopefully, she and her girls are pigging out in front of the TV, watching some mindless drivel.

I called Kevin as soon as I got back in my ride. Since I didn’t have much to say to him, I made that shit shirt and sweet. “I have something for you to listen to.” I played the recording of him and Sherry over the phone. “If you don’t want this getting into the wrong hands, namely your dad, meet me tomorrow.”

“Who’s this?”

“You know who the fuck I am. Tomorrow morning at the aquarium, nine o’clock. If you’re late, I’ll take this shit to your dad and maybe the cops. And next time, don’t spell out your crimes over the phone, asshole.”

“Where did you get that?”

“Where do you think?”

‘That bitch set me up? But why…?”
