Savage Love
His cock stayed seated within her body as her face fell into the crook of his neck, and soon she was asleep.
Kallie was asleep in his arms.
He pulled out from between her thighs and rolled back the covers. He scooted the two of them between the cool sheets, watching as her body settled at his side. Her hair fluttered over the pillow and her swollen lips were puckered. Her skin was tinted with a healthy flush and her sweat dried upon her forehead. Ash watched her as she slept, wanting to memorize every portion of her body. The way her soft snores filled the room. The way her leg gravitated between his. The way their smells wrapped around his head.
He wanted to remember all of it.
Ash couldn’t believe how amazing it felt to be with her again. And he knew he’d made the right choice in coming after her. Trying to get a second chance with Kallie was worth all of the heartache and the anger and the time and the unanswered questions. Kallie was the kind of woman he wanted at his side every night. The kind of woman he wanted to come home to. If she really gave him a second chance, he wasn’t going to squander it.
If she gave him a second chance, he would make sure she never regretted it.
Before Ash knew it, the sun was streaming through the windows. He woke up and felt the warmth of Kallie against his body and smiled. She was still there. She hadn’t left. That was a good thing, right?
Or had she not woken up yet?
He leaned up and saw Kallie’s head pressed against his chest. Her hair covered his face and he smiled at the sensation. She was still asleep. Softly snoring against his skin. But during the night, she had gravitated closer to him.
Like the magnets they were.
He slid from her grasp and stood to his feet. He watched as Kallie groaned and sighed, wrapping herself up in the softness of his silken sheets. He reached for his cell phone and called his favorite restaurant in town. The kind that had the best brunch and would deliver if he paid a premium price. He ordered all of the things he knew Kallie would love. Bacon. Bagels. Jams and cream cheeses. Pancakes and coffee cakes and hard-boiled eggs. Freshly squeezed orange juice for the champagne he knew he had, so they could make mimosas. Fruit salad. Pastries. Smoked salmon.
It made his stomach grumble simply thinking about it.
He placed the order and gave his name before he hung up the phone. The restaurant knew where to deliver the food. But it also meant he and Kallie had some time to kill. A couple of hours at least. He placed his phone down and dove into bed, peppering Kallie’s face with kisses. He pulled her from her sleep in a fit of giggles, and the second their lips connected, her body arched into his.
He slid his arm underneath the small of her back, bringing her warm body up to his.
“Morning,” Kallie said.
“Good morning, beautiful,” Ash said.
“No ‘Pretty Kallie’ for me this morning?”
“Good morning, Pretty Kallie,” he said with a smile. “Did you sleep well?”
“Like the dead. You?”
But Ash saw her wince in pain and he knew what was wrong.
“Hangover?”
“A bit, I think.”
“I have just the cure,” he said.
“What’s that?”
“Come on,” he said as he helped her naked body out of bed. “You, my dear, need a hot shower.”
“Mmmm, that does sound good. I think I might need food, though.”
“Trust me. I’ve got it under control. A hot shower, hot coffee, and by the time you’re done, brunch will be here.”
“Brunch?” she asked.
“I ordered it a few minutes ago. Come on. A hot shower for two.”
“Two?” she asked.
Ash looked back at her as he led her into his bathroom.
“You didn’t think I was going to let you shower alone, did you?”
Kallie smiled as he led her into the bathroom. He walked her through the small marble hallway that led into the walk-in shower. Ash fiddled with the knobs before water began to pour from small holes in the entire ceiling. It mimicked a waterfall, drenching their skin. And Ash couldn’t take his eyes off Kallie’s smile.
“You like it?” he asked.
“It feels so good,” she said with a sigh.
Ash pulled her into his arms and the two of them stood until their bodies were soaked. He swayed them side to side, slowly turning in a circle as they danced to the beat of their own drum. Kallie’s arms wrapped around him and held him close, and he felt her sigh into him. He felt a smile bloom across her cheeks as he looked down toward the top of her head. She looked up at him, his face shielding her skin from the water. It created their own little world, where nothing else existed except the two of them.
