Colson (The Henchmen MC 20)
"I knew it!" I declared, throwing my arms around them, then Colson for good measure. "We can't wait to take it for the weekend to give you guys a break!"
"Absolutely. Your mom is just dying to change dirty diapers again," Colson said, laughing when I let out a little involuntary gagging noise.
"You're evil," I decided, wrinkling my nose at him.
"You love it," he shot back, putting an arm around me.
God, yes, I did.
More than I ever could have known.
More with each passing day.
There was no end in sight.
He was an amazing father to our children.
He was the most kind and generous of partners.
He would be a fantastic grandpa.
And he was the absolutely only person I wanted to keep having old-people dates with. I hadn't seen the end of a movie in thirteen years. But I always woke up in his arms. And nothing else mattered.
It wasn't the happily-ever-after I ever thought I would get.
But it was the only one I ever wanted.
"Okay. We need to celebrate," I decided, looking over at Colson.
"I'll get the brownies," he said, giving me a smile.
