Dragon's Omega Bride (Shifter Marriage Service 3)
“God, I’m coming,” he groaned.
In her slightly drunken state, Aileen was very well aware that he hadn’t used a condom and he knew she wasn’t on the pill, but she lacked the will power to care about whether they were being careful. She had all sense of anything beyond just how amazing he felt inside of her. She wanted him to stay there for as long as possible, fucking her like no one else on the earth turned him on like she did. Whether it was true or not was irrelevant, it was what she chose to believe at this moment.
It would seem, though, that Yakov had forgotten none of these things and was more than cognizant of the risk they were taking. Just as he seemed to be on the verge of climax, he suddenly pulled free and grabbed his cock in his hand, massaging it to its final destination and ejaculating across her stomach and breasts. It was an unwelcome end to what had felt like an amazing connection. Still, she could hardly complain about him being careful.
“I’m going to shower,” he said.
“Oh, okay,” she replied.
There was no invitation to join him and she quickly discovered that he didn’t mean in her shower, though it would make sense for him to use his own. Instead, he got dressed and headed toward the door to the hallway, pausing just inside it and turning back to her for a moment.
“Thanks.”
Aileen was speechless. The only way she could have felt more like a hooker was if he had tossed some cash on the dresser prior to leaving. Once he was gone, she made her way to the shower and took her time scrubbing herself clean before returning to bed. Under different circumstances, she would have lain in her bed and basked in the afterglow of the incredible sex she had just shared with him, but instead she just felt cheap and ashamed. She wanted to cry, but tears eluded her. This was her fault. She had allowed herself to believe he wasn’t the piece of stone she perceived to be, but he was. He was obsidian to the core.
Numb. That is what she felt. Just numb.CHAPTER THIRTEENAt some point Aileen had drifted off to sleep, waking with the realization that it was late morning or so already. Looking at her phone, she saw that it was almost noon. Dragging herself out of bed, she showered and dressed to head out to her house to accomplish what she could before she would need to return and finish packing for their trip. She discovered that Yakov was already gone from the house upon her own arrival downstairs. There was no note or anything left for her, either on paper or with staff. No messages. Nothing. Not a shred of remorse about having left her room so callously nor an attempt to soften the blow.
She had no delusions that this was going to become anything more than what it was, just sex. That was just fine with her. The time would certainly pass quicker if she was getting laid as part of the deal. It didn’t hurt that Yakov was an absolute powerhouse in the sack. She found herself reflecting on it even as she drove across town, a smile on her face.
Despite the way things had ended, she had concluded that she was overreacting. It was just sex and he had done what was smart by pulling out. There was nothing that he should have said. No requirement for him to cuddle afterward. Sex without strings. It had its merits and she’d be wise to just embrace it. If she could manage to do so, it was certainly an added bonus.
Opening her front door, she was surprised to find an envelope with a piece of paper in it had been slid into the letter slot and fallen on the floor on the other side. Grant, the carpenter that had brought her furniture before had been busy. He had taken the measurements from his previous visit and the description of what she wanted and sketched out a set of shelves for her office. She hadn’t been very sure about having them custom built, but she had to admit that his creation was tempting. She tucked it in her bag and unlocked the door.
The day was fairly non-productive. Her lack of sleep and thinking about her morning romp with Yakov was too distracting to get much more done than just some more unpacking and hanging a few more things on the wall. The doorbell rang and she went to answer it, accepting the package she had ordered for delivery today and probably the only reason she hadn’t just stayed at Yakov’s place and slept a while longer.
Back inside, she unpacked the laptop and began setting it up. There was no reason she couldn’t get started on her future goals while she was fulfilling her contractual obligations to Yakov. By the time her gig was up with him, she could be well on her way by taking some of the pre-requisite classes she needed to get her accounting degree. She smiled at this. Hardly anyone found an accounting career exciting or sexy, but she did. There was something magical about sorting through a sea of numbers, making sense of them, sometimes fitting together the missing pieces.
