Toxic Game (GhostWalkers 15)
I have to let you in on a little secret, sweetheart, Draden said, wrapping his arms around her from behind and leaning his chin on her shoulder. Every single man in this room knows we have hot sex. They probably know we have sex a few times a day.
She glared at him. They can’t know it’s hot and it would be impossible for them to know how many times a day. She scrunched up her face and danced her eyebrows at him, refusing to let him make her blush again.
What part of them all having cat DNA don’t you get? Your sense of smell is enhanced. So is theirs. Of course they know. There’s no hiding that, no matter how many showers we take.
Shylah hadn’t thought about that. Her gaze swept around the room. She did have an extremely heightened sense of smell in comparison with a human. Tigers didn’t rely on smell for the hunt. Their visual acuity was far more developed than their sense of smell. That didn’t mean that the men in the room wouldn’t be able to scent her receptiveness to her man.
Draden’s soft laughter provoked another rush of color into her face. She refrained from kicking him. You’d better stop before you find yourself going without sex for a very long time.
You like my cock too much for that to happen.
That was true and there was no denying the obvious. She was the one waking him up if they both fell asleep and she often initiated the sex, sometimes only a couple of hours after he’d made love to her. She was addicted to the mixture of lust and love he wrapped her in every time he touched her. No matter what he did, it was always mind-blowing and beautiful.
Now who’s the one making me blush?
Shylah leaned her head back against him, listening to the easy camaraderie of the GhostWalker team. These men went into combat together, relied on one another to watch their backs. They trusted one another implicitly, and it showed in the way they treated one another. They ribbed one another, but it was always good-natured. Draden belonged with these men and she belonged with Draden. She was going to like her new home.
She concentrated on Bellisia, wanting her to be happy, hoping she was every bit as happy as Shylah was. Each time Bellisia looked up at Ezekiel, he would look down at her with such love on his face, Shylah couldn’t help but think the two of them were as happy as she and Draden were.
She reached out to Bellisia. Are you happy? Does he treat you right?
Bellisia’s gaze jumped to her face. She nodded. I’m so in love with him it makes me crazy sometimes. I didn’t know I could feel this way.
I didn’t either, Shylah admitted. Draden makes every minute I’m breathing so worth it. I know it sounds like a fairy tale, Bellisia, but he really is amazing the way he loves me. I never thought I’d have this, and it’s all the more precious because I thought love and family was for everyone else, not me.
I was so scared when Wyatt told Ezekiel that you both were infected with the virus. I made up my mind to find a way to get to Whitney if you had died. Now, we’re being threatened because Whitney just can’t stop.
This little present to the GhostWalkers is from Cheng, at least it sounded like he was the one who ordered it. Even his friends seem to think he’s going downhill. They’ll probably put out a hit on him and we won’t have to take him down.
Bellisia gave a slight shake of her head. Cheng hurt Zara, Shylah. He would have sold her into trafficking, and Zeke said it was the most vile, disgusting thing he’d ever seen going after Bolan Zhu, his right-hand man and actual brother. Bolan tortured Zara on Cheng’s orders. Her feet are so damaged she’ll never run like she used to. I’d like to kill the bastard myself.
“Just what are you two women up to?” Joe asked.
“They’re probably discussing some new sex technique,” Malichai said hopefully.
There was a sudden silence. Shylah’s eyes met Bellisia’s and they both burst out laughing.
“Actually, we’re discussing killing Cheng and why,” Bellisia admitted. “Sorry to disappoint you, Malichai, but we already finished that very provocative and extremely kinky technique sharing. Maybe next time.”
Malichai sat up straight. His breath hitched. He looked from Draden to Ezekiel. “She’s gotta talk. Tell us. Both of them have to.”
Shylah shrugged her shoulders and tried to look as nonchalant as Bellisia. “After Draden is treated to that mind-blowing technique, you can ask him all about it. Maybe he’ll share the how-to part.”
Malichai groaned. “I’m going to have to hurry and finish my ad.”
“The one you’ve been working on a year,” Mordichai reiterated.
“I have to get the wording just right,” Malichai defended.
“How many words do you have so far?” Shylah asked.
“ ‘To the angel looking for me.’ ” Malichai smiled. “Isn’t that perfect, although I thought about changing the word the to my. My angel. What do you think?”

“I think you’re going to die of old age before you ever finish that ad,” Ezekiel told his younger brother. Hurry it up for my sake. I’d like a few nephews.”
Shylah rolled her eyes. “What’s wrong with you men? Are you all about having sons?”
“Wyatt isn’t,” Rubin Campo declared. “He has triplets, three little girls, and Pepper is pregnant with twins and they’re girls.”
There was a long moment of silence. Wyatt glared at Rubin. “How the hell did you know that? No one knows. Maybe Nonny. It was a surprise, you blockhead.”
“Sorry, man.” Rubin made a face at his brother, Diego, and then shrugged his shoulders. “I didn’t realize the others didn’t know.”
“Twins?” Draden echoed.
“Girls?” Trap looked genuinely horrified. “Wyatt, that’s five girls. What the fuck? We’re going to have to kill half the boys in the swamp.”
Wyatt sighed and rubbed at the bridge of his nose. “I’m well aware that’s five daughters for me. I can do the math.” He glared at Rubin. “How did you know?”
Rubin shrugged again. “I just know things sometimes. I can ‘see’ things. Pepper was obviously pregnant with twins …”
“It wasn’t obvious to me,” Joe said. “She doesn’t look big enough to be carrying twins.”
Trap cleared his throat. “Are we all going to be having multiple births because of the things Whitney did to us?”
Trap was a big man, taller than most of the other GhostWalkers, with blond hair and piercing blue eyes. He was scary looking, until just that moment. Shylah could see fear carved right into the lines of his face as he asked the question. She exchanged a little grin with Bellisia. Let the men be afraid for a change when it came to pregnancy. On the other hand, the thought of having more than one baby at a time was daunting when she didn’t know the first thing about children or parenting.
We’re so not getting pregnant, she informed Draden. She felt his instant, answering smirk. I mean it. Until we figure out this having twins thing …
