Brock's Leading Lady (The Nanny Tales 1)

“Good morning. How was your night? Did the driver turn out ok?” I want to make sure she felt comfortable. We didn't talk about this morning when I fixed breakfast for her and Delta, because she ate in a hurry, claiming she needed to get on a study session call.

“Oh yes. He was great. Especially since I already know him. Turns out his daughter Gabby and I go to school together.”

“Oh wow, sis. I didn’t know Armando was Gabby’s dad.” Delta says smiling.

“Yep. It was cool. She rode with us.”

“That’s awesome.” I smile watching the two of them interact. I admire the closeness between them. How much my woman had to give up supporting her. It's why she deserves nothing less than everything.

“Well I have to go to work this morning for a couple of hours, but then afterward, I am all yours. What are you guys doing today?” I ask as she places the kid’s plates in front of them.

“Well before you came downstairs, the kids and I were talking, and they want to go to the zoo. I wasn’t sure what you were doing so I told them I would ask you.”

“Well if you three don’t mind, can you wait for me to come home? I would like to go with you?” I look at my kids wanting it to be their choice.

“Yes daddy. I want you to go with us.” Railynn says, bouncing up and down in her seat, words muffled by food.

“Very well. I am sure Delta can find something for you all to do in the meantime. I know I don’t have to tell you to be on your best behavior. I know she is new, but she still deserves your respect. Understand?” I give both of them a serious look. Though to be honest, I am not worried about either of them. My kids are wonderful little creatures.

“We understand, Sir.” Jasper responds in his serious tone.

“Very good. I will call you in a bit, yes?” My eyes catch hers as they land on mine.

“Of course.” It takes everything in me not to walk over to her and put my tongue in her mouth and leave her with a reminder of last night. It doesn’t feel right to walk away without holding her. But, right now is not the time. Especially since we haven’t fully discussed what is to be. Instead, I nod, grab my suitcase and walk out the door.

“Good morning, Sir.”

“Good morning Armando. Thank you for bringing River home last night. I understand you two know each other.”

“Yes sir. She and my daughter Gabby go to high school together. They have had regular study sessions at my house in the past.”

“Well please, now that River is living here, please invite your daughter over. She and River should have girl nights. Don’t you think?”

“How generous, Sir. I will let the girls know.”

“You know, Armando, I was thinking, would you be offended if I made you River’s driver? You have been amazing for me and I am sad of course to not have our conversations, but this way, you can take your daughter to school as well. How would that be?”

“Sir, wow. Thank you, sir. Yes sir. That would be amazing.”

“Excellent. Let’s begin on Monday. Carlos has been on standby for quite some time. Looks like he is finally going to get his shot.” I hired a secondary driver for when Armando had an emergency or was sick. Which is hardly ever. He finishes thanking me and then I call my attorney.

“Brock. Been a while. What can I do for you?”

“Good day to you to Clay. There are a few amendments I need you to make to my will.” He is silent for a moment. Clay Burrows has been my lawyer for over ten years. He knows more about me than anyone. So, I am sure at this moment he is confused as to what I could possibly be adding.

“Ok.” he says clearly waiting for me to continue.

“I met my future wife, Clay, and I need her taken care of now.” My matter of fact statement is not lost on him, nor is he intimidated by my demeanor.

“Let me get this straight. You met a woman; you like her, and you want me to add her to your will. Are you ok, Brock? You ill? Something wrong with your head and I don’t know about it?” Smart-ass.

“No. But you know once I make up my mind about something, it’s done. So just do what I said. Good day.” I don’t have time for his shit. I already sent my secretary a message to have my accountant come to my office before my meeting so I can add her to everything. People may think I’m crazy and they may be right. But, now that I have found her, nothing else matters.
