Keeping Her (Savage Brothers Second Generation 2)

“She’s mine because she wanted that almost as much as I did. I don’t fucking know why, but it’s a gift and regardless what you think of me, I’m not a stupid man. That means, I’m not letting her go.”

“You decide she was yours before or after you found out she was Savage MC property motherfucker?” My gaze jerks over to the man that walks up the steps. Dragon. I’ve seen him before, from a distance. I doubt he took much notice of me, most of his dealings were with Ford. He’s an intimidating asshole; lucky for me, I’ve never been one to give in to intimidation. I’ve been told I give as good as I get and I’m rather proud of that. So, in response, I broaden my stance, and cross my arms at my chest and give my best fucking grunt, because his damn words aren’t worthy of a response.

My gaze turns back to look for Jasmine. She’s still on the floor, Daisy in her arms. She’s laughing up at her friend Gabby who is standing there beside Nicole—who I met yesterday, and another woman with red hair that I don’t know. It’s none of them that I focus on, it’s the guy standing close to Gabby. Every so often Gabby will laugh and the guy’s eyes go directly to her. They’re standing apart as if they’re not together, but clearly he wishes he was.

Motherfucker.

“You ignoring me, asshole?” Dragon barks.

I turn my gaze to him. “Your question didn’t deserve an answer. Besides I already answered it yesterday. I didn’t know who Jasmine’s family was until two days ago. Trust me, I wish to fuck she had told me sooner.”

“Would it have made a difference?”

This question comes from Dancer, so I stare at him, giving him the fucking honest truth.

“Not a damn bit.”

He and Dragon both surprise me by laughing.

“Who’s the guy in there with Jasmine’s girl, Gabby?” I ask, when it’s clear they aren’t planning on killing me—at least not right here and not right now.

“That’s my son, Dom. You got a problem with him?” Dragon asks, and Jesus Christ can’t something go simple in my damn life just once?”

“He just looked familiar. Could have sworn I’ve seen him around somewhere,” I tell him.

Dancer changes the subject and I let him. My brain is scrambling. I’m going to need to talk to Ford and I’m going to need to do that shit the minute I get back to Virginia.43Jasmine“Are you okay?”

Something is wrong and I mean horribly wrong. Luke has barely spoken since we left Mom and Dad’s. I was afraid that Dad had threatened him, but they seemed way too relaxed to be planning the murder of my boyfriend. Luke has been really uptight, though. Even when he was being nice to my mom and trading barbs with Bart and Hawk, he was tense. I could see it, even if others might have missed it.

The fact that he’s been silent since we hit the road only solidifies it.

“I’m fine, Red.”

“You shouldn’t lie to me, Luke. I can spot bullshit a mile off,” I grumble.

“Okay, I’m not fine, but the reason I’m not fine has nothing to do with you, baby,” he tells me and that should make me breathe easier, but for some reason it doesn’t.

“Then, my family?” I ask, wondering if I misread how relaxed Uncle Dragon, Bull and Dad seemed to be at the get together earlier. They all played and laughed with Daisy and I doubt seriously they would have done that while plotting to kill her father.

He grunts under his breath. It’s this annoyed sound that immediately makes me sick to my stomach.

“What did they do?” I ask.

“Nothing, baby.”

“Bullshit. I’ve had enough of this. If they can’t respect me or my choices then, I’m done.”

“Jasmine—”

“I mean it. I’m flipping done!”

“Flipping?” he asks, and he sounds amused, but I can’t pay attention to that. I’m pissed and I’m letting my anger have free range here and my parents are going to feel the brunt of it.

“Daisy’s here. She might be sleeping but little ears have sonar,” I snip, and for the first time since we arrived at my parent’s house, Luke is smiling. Too bad he chooses to do it when I’m planning to murder them.

“Baby, you need to calm down.”

“No. No, I do not, Luke. You’re upset and it has something to do with my parents. That means Dad and my uncles decided to be assholes to you and that is not cool. They have a right to doubt me based on my past, but they don’t get to treat you like—”

My eyes go wide and I stop talking when Luke pulls over to the side of the road.

He shuts off the engine and I immediately start shaking my head no.

“Luke you are not going to get me to calm down by doing you-know-what beside the road. Our daughter is in the back seat!”
