“We’ve already established this, Angel. Knock that shit off, you do know me. I saved your daughter,” he winks. That cocky smirk is back, and now I just want to smack it right off his face more than ever.

My head falls forward looking down at my feet as memories of this afternoon—and my conversation with Bryce—comes rushing back to me. I don’t even remember if I thanked him for today. I look back up at Bull. “Thank you,” I tell him from the deepest pits of my heart. “I honestly don’t know what I would have done if you guys weren’t there today.”

“It’s okay, Angel,” he says, reaching out to touch my arm, trying to break the somber mood. “I’m sure she would have slipped out with all the oil and butter eventually.”

My mouth drops open as I stare into his piercing grey eyes. I gasp at his audacity. He’s teasing me, and I think I like it. “It’s really late,” I tell him, not ready for him to leave. “Have you even been home yet?”

“No, I dropped into my parents’ house on my way here to grab my welder. I wanted to get over here and fix this before it got too late.” He looks up to the night sky. “But I didn’t realize it had gotten this late.”

“It’s okay,” I breathe. “I appreciate the thought, but you must be starving. Have you eaten?”

“Not yet, work got a little hectic, and since then, I’ve had other things on my mind,” he tells me with a smile kicking up the side of his lips. His eyes bore into mine with the kind of intensity that could tear a woman in half.

Feeling my face flame at the double meaning, I quickly change the subject.

“Well, since you’ve been kind enough to come and help me, it’s only fair that I feed you. I’ve got leftovers. Do you eat spaghetti? It’s a little burnt, definitely not my best effort, but after the nightmare of a day I’ve had, that’s the best I can offer. I could reheat you some now while you finish up.”

His eyes look over me with curiosity before slowly nodding his head. “Burnt spaghetti is my favorite,” he murmurs, making my cheeks flush all over again.

Liar.

“I’m not sure how much is there, but I’ll heat up what we’ve got,” I tell him, resisting biting my lip. “When you’re ready, come on in. Oh, wait,” I laugh. “Who am I kidding? You don’t wait for invitations.”

A devilish grin rips across his face, and I scram. Was I just flirting with him? Shit. I need to get myself under control.

Turning on my heel, I walk back into the house and into the kitchen, adding a little sway to my hips as I feel his eyes burning into my ass. I leave the front door open and get busy with his dinner before watching as his eyes find mine through the open doorway. Yeah, he likes what he sees, but hell, so do I.CHAPTER 7BULLPacking up the welder, I stand back and look over my handiwork. Fuck, I’m good. If I never became a firefighter, I could have been a kick-ass carpenter. Though, I probably wouldn’t have gotten as much ass as I have. Those early years of being on the team were incredible. All I had to do was murmur to a chick what I did for work, and she’d be bent over at the waist, thrusting her ass into me, and begging for it within seconds.

Now, I’m a little classier with my conquests. I’ve got a girl, Jessa. She knows what’s up. I go over there when I’ve had a long day and need to sink into something warm, and she’ll text me when she has an itch that needs scratching. She’s down with our arrangement, and it works for me not needing to go out and search for it. Not that it’s hard.

Though, watching Amelia strut back inside her home, swaying those perfect hips from side to side, had me hardening in my pants like a fucking teenage boy. I haven’t reacted that way to a woman in a long time, and all it does is make me want her more. I doubt I’ll ever have to worry about finding another Jessa again. Amelia is my fucking end game.

She’s mine, or she will be. She just doesn’t know it yet. Though judging by the heat in her eyes when she looked up at me and the way she so happily invited me in for dinner at ten-thirty at night, I’d dare say, she might already know. I hope she knows. It would make convincing her so much easier, but something tells me there’s a wall I’ll have to knock down first in order to give her what she truly needs.

I push my welder aside and place my helmet down, feeling as though I’ve accomplished something great tonight. Seeing the devastation all over her as she looked at this old railing this afternoon and then told me about her dad, it nearly killed me. I knew, no matter what that I was coming back here to make it right.
