Sweet Kisses
I pull back from the kiss. “Tell me.” I can read him. Not as good as he can read me but I am getting there.
“Your sister left.” He sighs.
“What do you mean left?” She was at the wedding. Hugged me goodbye before I left for my honeymoon. I knew she was set to start working for Victor.
“My main office isn't at the resort, Kotyonok.” I’d never thought about that. That would mean...Oh no. My thoughts begin to race in all different directions.
“But-” I start to panic. I don’t want my sister to leave. I’ve just gotten her back and we were closer than ever.
“She needs this, Kotyonok,” Victor encourages me. “Let her go for a little. Trust I know what I am doing. I would never let something happen to her. I know how much you love and care for your sister. If she hurts you hurt and if you hurt—” His face goes hard at just the idea of me being hurt. I rest my head on his chest, knowing he’s right. Amie needs to find her own way. She was always strong but my mother and Marks’ betrayal has done a number on her. I’m guessing being off on her own for a little will do her good. It will help rebuild that confidence she had before those two asshats tried to shatter it all. “We can go visit on the way home if you like.” My head pops up to look at him. “After the honeymoon.” I laugh. Yeah. It can wait. I’ll let Amie get her feet on the ground before I go check on her.
“After our honeymoon,” I agree. I tip my head back, offering my husband a kiss. He takes it.
“Even your kisses taste sweeter. I did not know this was possible.”
“I’m changing.” I give him a coy smile. I lick my lips.
“You need not change. I love my kotyonok how she is. Unless you want to change.” I smile at my perfect husband, knowing he’s going to make a perfect dad too.
“I’m pregnant,” I tell him. I watch his whole face light up with happiness. My whole body warms that I gave him that look. “Maybe that’s why I taste sweeter. ‘Cause there is going to be more of me,” I tease.
“I love you, Kotyonok. I will cherish this gift you are about to give me.”
I cup my husband’s face with my hands. “You gave me this gift too,” I remind him, making him smile before I steal one of my own sweet kisses from him.
