My Prince Charming - A Steele Fairy Tale
“What will?”
“Her husband’s will. It left everything to his daughter, but she wanted it all. The will wasn’t contested because she’s got one hell of a Hoover for a mouth and was doing him too.”
“I move to strike that from the record.”
“Sorry, councilor, but you opened the door to that conversation.”
“Well, I offed the man and the dog. It was almost too easy, but it doesn’t mean I felt good about it. Money’s money, though.”
“You got a deal to say these things, isn’t that right?”
“Opening that door again. I didn’t get the deal for testifying against her. I got it for setting up her buddy who wanted me to get rid of her husband as well, but they caught us.”
I stand up and walk out of the courtroom. I can’t hear another word. “Princess, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay. I’m going to be okay. She’ll be going to prison for this, and so will he. He’s still going away for twenty years. At least I have the answers I needed.” I hold onto my husband when I feel my father-in-law put his hand on my shoulder. “I’m fine. I promise. Can we just go home now?”
“Sure. If that’s what you want, that’s what we’ll do.”
“Dani, I think we need some ice cream. What do you think?” I rub my belly that’s clearly way too big, but the baby is nice and cozy, so I’ll just have to deal with it. It’s not as if Edward minds at all. In fact, he’s completely obsessed and filled with male pride that he knocked me up so easily.
“It’s the middle of the winter,” Edward reminds me, rubbing my back. We went to a late lunch after leaving the courthouse and then we came back to the house for a bit. They’re all here because they’re worried about me.
“I’m sure I asked Dani,” I grumble. He growls and nestles his face in the crook of my neck, kissing and tickling me until I giggle and work my way out of his lips’ path.
“Yes, we totally need some ice cream,” she agrees, pouting up at my father-in-law who, from his expression, is complete mush in her hands.
“Okay. We’re going to get you some ice cream,” Edward says in mock surrender. I love how playful he is now that he doesn’t work as much as he did. “Any particular kind?” he grunts against my ear. The feel of his scruff against my pulse turns me on.
“I want a banana split,” I moan, pushing my ass back against his jeans, feeling his thick length between my cheeks.
“Flavor?” he groans obscenely. I’m not sure if I just want sex or ice cream. Still, I’ll take both.
“No. I want a real banana split. You know, three ice creams, nuts, whipped cream, cherries, all the sauces that go on each scoop of ice cream.”
“That sounds so good,” Dani moans.
“Woman, you know that’s a full trip to the store.” Edward shakes his head and spanks my ass, rubbing it like we’re alone. “Come on, Dad. We’re on a mission.”
“Anything for our women.” Dani’s bent backwards and kissed hard by my father-in-law, and then he sits her back on the stool.
“Yep, anything for my princess.” He kisses me, and they walk out to head to the grocery store. It’s freezing out, but there’s no snow on the ground, so it’s not that bad.
“I can’t believe they went to get it,” Dani says with a giggle. They’re willing to do anything for us, even if they don’t feel like it. Going out in the cold isn’t that big of an inconvenience for them, especially because it gives them some time together.
They love each other, but life had pushed them apart. As doctors, they both had worked crazy and intense hours, plus they had to deal with his crazy mother. I’m so glad Elaine’s out of our lives. I can’t imagine if she’d had a chance to ruin our happiness again.
“Please, Dani. You know they’d do anything for us.”
“I know. I love it. The men are wonderful. I hope they get everything we need to make the banana splits, and maybe some more for the next day.”
“Gosh, I love banana splits. It’s strange how much I’ve been craving them for weeks.”
“We’re both having boys.” I’m so excited to have a little version of Edward. He’s going to be a heartthrob just like his father, and hopefully we can raise him to be as charmingly sweet.
“Well, how about we get all the bowls together?”
“The store’s not that far from here, and those two are super efficient, so we don’t have much time until they’re back.”
“They really are, aren’t they?” We giggle, interlock our arms, and then stroll into the kitchen. I love our kitchen, especially when Edward wants to serve me up as the meal. Smiling to myself, I reach into the cabinet and pull out a stack of bowls while Dani grabs the spoons.
